Okay .. you probably want to read the males answers but I call my boyfriend all kinds of things, what ever pops in my head really .. but the one word that I noticed I use a lot is baby (I don't think that he minds) when ever I have a question or we're saying good-bye and hello. I don't know why either, he's not really a baby, but I read a few comments and when it comes to intimate relations, I tend to use the more masculine words like sexy or handy man. Hoped this helped you out.

A reader, anonymous, writes (20 March 2010):

I think I'd like to be called by my real name (or shortened name) more often, but it sounds so formal. My partner and I have been calling each other "bub" (and variations like bubs, bubble/s, bubby) for a couple of years now, so using our real names sounds like we are in trouble! I think we went through a stage of using any variations of bubble - ie: rice bubbles, bubble tea etc.

When we first started dating, it was a bit confusing because he didn't like "corny" names such as babe, baby, honey, darling and sweetie. I thought of 'bub' and it took a little while to get used to but it stuck.

He used to mix things up a bit by referring to me as chicken, chickee, chickadee. Now he often uses "gorgeous girl" in text messages. To get a reaction out of me he might say something corny like "bubblecakes" which I don't like.

I find it harder to think of nicknames for him. They can't be too feminine, but they can be cute. I'de use "handsome one/handsome/sexy boy/ in text messages. We often call each other "goose" when one of us is being silly. For the record, he hates "duckie".

Ive been know as boo for a while. I got the nickname JesTer cause of a tattoo i have of a jester. I became Boo, The JesTer.

The girl im with now calls me, boo boo. I think its cute, i call her Cutie, Crazy, Doll, or sometimes harly... after harly quinn

I have nicknames for all my female friends, sunshine, kelli bear, fo sho, tinkerbell, krazy, skiddles, tay tay, t-dog, tina.

Keep it simple and meaningful

A reader, anonymous, writes (16 March 2010):

i agree with alot of these posts, you want to make the nickname personal. you want it to be something you both create or something that comes from an inside joke. one guy i was with, we called each other bug because one day i was watching tv and a commercial for a show had cartoon bugs on it and i thought it was adorable. it took him a day to get used to but he really liked it and we became each others bugs and buggies. another guy i was with he one day was jokin around callin me hot lips and names like that and i joked backed. and some of the nicknames we were jokin around with stuck.

* if your serious with the guy create something personal, if its just a fling or your being flirty call him generic names like handsome, stud, sexy.

I call my boyfriend "nothing" because I told him I had "nothing" to do and so he was like well hey.. :). But call him something cute like baby boy, prince charming, muffin, sunshine, handsome, etc. Nicknames are just another way to show your significant other that you love them.. and no, not every guy uses "baby" in case they forget your name..

I know I love when my boyfriend calls me baby girl.. something about it just gives me the flutters.

Well I've read most of these and I'm getting the idea that half of people like generics like babe and baby. & the other 50 are liking the special ones with meaning.

Personally I call my boyfriend both.

I call him babe, baby, hunny, handsome, sexy.. etc.

but I also call him Tom even though his name is Forest. Tom is a nickname I madeup and its kind of an insider between us. Another name thats personal to us is cowboy. It's not for the sexy stuff that all the guys are sayin, its something personal to he and I and thats why it has stuck. Lastly another name I call him is home dogg! LOL That came from a friend and I answered my phone when I was with that friend and he was laughin at me so that stuck too. :)

I hope this kinda helped. As long as you just use names that are personal to you with the ocassional baby or handsome, it should all be good. :)

I have called many boyfriends by nicknames. I find honey and baby generic. But some of the ones Ive used were goose (because he was silly), pooks (because he had this bear that he didnt sleep with but kept close that looked like pookie bear from garfield), button (cute as a...), Beans (his name was Dean), Drewdrop (his name was Drew), and most recently, Pickle, because he REALLY hates pickles, so I tell him everyday that I love MY pickle.

I have never been given a nickname by a boyfriend yet, but most of them call me by my highschool nickname, Tank. Not very romantic. Find something that fits for him. See what his childhood nicknames were, that sometimes helps.

"Brad" is another favourite nickname,as I'm considered a

Good question.

The best nick name is that one that relates to him in a funny, special and sexy way.

I call my boyfriend Frenchy, cuz he likes French, cuz he's bad at French.. and that's so hot... that I get to correct him.

I also call him My Blue Butt. Blue it's his preffered color and he has a nice perky butt.

He hates to be called Babe, or Honey... its just so old.

Be original and playfull.

I agree with those who said to make it personal. My boyfriend calls me 'Princess' because that's what my names means. However, I call him 'Sunshine' because he is a very optimistic and upbeat. But, I also call him Baby, Sweetie, Sweetheart, and Honey. Still, 'Sunshine' is the most common one because it's something that's special to only him. Just think of his personality and hobbies. If he's a gamer, call him 'Shooter', if he plays basketball, call him 'Hoopster'. Just think of something that relates to him.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (26 April 2009):

Well, reading all of these is kinda making me sick... and I'm a girl. Baby, babe, sweetie, cutie, etc.. they are all commonly used within other relationships. Of course, they're cute anyway, but I believe you should find a real nickname for him that has a story behind it. In the mean time, call him baby because I think either way it's a sign of affection and he'll appreciate it anyway.

You do find some guys that hate pet names altogether. They want to be called by their name and nothing else, or it irks them.

Hope this helps.

Good answers I guess, most of them are the same though. Whenever my gf calls me she says "Ohai love" and I think it's the cutest thing. :D

It's what we call each other all the time.

Even something as simple as a commonly used term of endearment can be special when you make it your own.

Good luck

You shouldn't have to ask other people what to call your own boyfriend/man. you should know him well enough to know what suits him best or what you think he would like. dosnt matter anyway, ive been reading the replies here and all it made me do was feel sick in my stomach to here those ridiculous names you girls call your men. thank god my gf knows better than to call me those crap. its ok if she alters your real name to sound more flirty with you but things like snookums just dosnt do it for me.

I've read through some of these and I've realized that these are not nicknames. Baby, boo, babe, sexy. Terms of endearment maybe, not nicknames. I call my dog "baby." How about something personal. I call my gf "chausey". There's a story behind it and it's trademarked so you can't use it. I would like a REAL and unique nickname. Thanks.
