writes: Ok, totally frivolous, recreational question here... Recently a poster asked suggestions about love songs,.. I'd like to extend the question to know which is for you ,fellow Dear Cupiders, the Ultimate Love Song. Not the best, the most original, etc. , but YOUR personal love song. The one which talks to you, that you identify with being in love, which tugs at your heartstrings , - does not matter if it 's cheesy or not a musical masterpiece .Just a curiosity, please indulge me.ALL genre and all decades allowed. I just listened to Time after time. Yes i should have included it but it was just so popular, you will note that I prefer stuff that is less overplayed.

CindyCares is verified as being by the original poster of the question Thank you Dear Cupiders, all get 5-starred not only for your courtesy in partecipating in my little poll, but also for the imaginative, in some cases sophisticated choices. I blush in admitting that MY Ultimate Love Song is a banal " Wild Horses " ( Rolling Stones )...
Special honourable mention to Mark78 for having picked from one of my favourite top 10 albums ever .
And to Fatherly Advice for the Cyndi Lauper tribute... hey what about Time after time , don't you like that :) ?

I'm completely dating myself but what the hell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuN6gs0AJls Melt with You by Modern English "I'll stop the world and melt with you" how could that be any better?

I'm just weird about music. During the final stages of courtship we had a song. Alone by Heart.
But it never made me feel the way that Cindy is describing here. Since we are here to answer Cindy's question the song that still gets me every time is rarely interpreted as a love song so with that apology . . .
Little fighter - White Lion

Dr Hook, A little bit more. Love this song.
Best lyrics are:
When your body's had enough of me
And I'm layin flat out on the floor
When you think I've loved you all I can
I'm gonna love you a little bit more
Come on over here and lay by my side
I've got to be touchin you
Let me rub your tired shoulders
The way I used to do Look into my eyes and give me that smile
The one that always turns me on
And let me take your hair down
Cause we're stayin up to greet the sun.....

It Had To Be You (written in 1924!) performed by either Frank Sinatra, or here, by Harry Connick, Jr.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUqV1HoEYLw
Love these lyrics:
t had to be you, it had to be you
I've wandered around, finally found somebody who
Could make me be true
Could make me be blue
And, even be glad just to be sad thinkin' of you
Some others I've seen
Might never be mean
Might never be cross
Or, try to be boss
But, they wouldn't do
For nobody else gave me a thrill
With all your faults, I love you still
It had to be you, wonderful you
It had to be you
'Cause nobody else gave me a thrill
With all your faults, I love you still now
And it had to be you, it just had to be you
It had to be you

current fav is True Love by Pink.
"at the same time I want to hug you
i want to wrap my hands around your neck
your an asshole but i love you
and it makes me so mad I ask myself
why I'm still here
where could I go
you're the only love I've ever known
but I hate you I really hate you
so much
i think it must be
true love...."
just makes me feel all warm and loving about my idiot boy...

My husband and my wedding song is rascal flats I won't let go. The chorus sings like a marriage vow and what it means to love someone. Never fails to tug my heartstrings every time I heard it, even before we chose it as our song.
Chorus:
I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you've done all you can do
And you can't cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let go
