Work out. Be active. Take a hot bath or long hot shower. Get a massage. Go swimming. The list is endless.

Exercise. When you exercise your body releases endorphins, which make you happy and relaxed and that post workout "high" or whatever you want to call it is awesome.

Something mindless you enjoy, such as watching tv, playing a game, reading a fiction novel or magazine, or any kind of hobby that is fun for you. Fun relieves stress. Or some physical activity like CaringGuy suggested. If you don't enjoy the gym how about a bike ride, a jog, a game of team sports with friends, walk in the park?
Here are some alternative methods I use. Guided meditations are great, you can find them free on youtube. You just lie back and listen to the voice, and if it is a good one it can make you feel soooo relaxed. But sometimes it won't work, it can depend on your state of mind, but it's worth a few goes, might work for you.
Other things are massage, reiki, aromatherapy, dance and yoga. You might laugh at the idea of these but I can tell you from experience, yoga and dance are amazing stress relievers. Reiki and massage can be expensive but if you are experincing a lot of stress and can afford it, it is worth it. I'm just about to finish uni and have booked myself on of each. I figure I will need it after all the stress!
If you were thinking of day to day stress, any form of exercise is probably your best option.
