I was confused as to weather or not I could consent to someone over 18 while I'm under 18. *sigh* I guess even if I consent, if word gets out, he's a done deal. I think he already was in jail before anyway, so that wouldn't be good!

The age of consent means the legal age you have to be in order to do something. Different countries have different laws. The age of consent to buy ciggarettes in the UK is 16 but it may vary in other countries and the age of consent (legal age) to buy alcohol is 18 (21 in some stores). Basically, it means the LEGAL age that you have to be before you are legally able to do something.

Usually, that's what it means. If you're getting down to serious cases, however, you may need to consult a competent attorney as to what the exact meaning of the statute is and means in your case. It will cost you some bucks, but that's WAY better than making just a LITTLE mistake that could possibly end up with your guy getting labeled as a sex offender for the rest of his life and never being able to get a job again, isn't it?
This country has gone nuts on the subject of sex offenders lately. Don't you or your partner be a victim of this paranoia.
