What do you make of his behaviour? I really like him but he is acting really weird!

Hey There, I've been having a problem and i really need your help! Basically there's this guy i've been liking on and off for a long while and only recently have we started chatting. But he can be very confusing in his signals..you see i really want to find out if he has any feelings for me at all and if not then at least i tried and i can move on. Anyway, he does come up to me and chat sometimes and i always feel wierd when i'm chatting to him like i'm not really being myself..Is that Normal? The other thing is that for instance today i happened to be walking behind him and kinda squeaked Hey and he turned and then started chatting to his mate facing me and then asked me how i was before running off..Wierd. I carried on walking and then saw him outside this shop.. i quickly said cya and was about to move on before he grabbed my arm (i think) and asked if i could help him pick an ice cream? So i pointed out some nice ones .. he picked a totally different one and then we said bye. Wierd behaviour or what! So what can you guys make of that?
