I live with my old man and he won't let me stay out all night, and I wanted to spend a weekend, or a few days with him, my old man is old fashioned, he still believes that we have to get home at 8, and he want to know, with who, and why. What would be nice to get him, something that will be a real treat and something for him to keep until I join him overseas.Any ideas. Reply to this Question Share |

Ummm, a small portrait of you and him, a poem , music c.d. The list is endless, what does he really have a passion for!?
Hey here's an idea why don't you get a camcorder and have a day with him when he visits. You can record the whole day of special things you do with each other and you can make a tape for him and a tape for you!! That way you both have something special, if that doesn't hit the nail on the head I don't know what does!? Where do you live? I just wanna think of places you can go to record?
Memories are priceless, especially when you can watch them other and other again, (and press pause on the special pictures)

A picture of yourself or the two of your together is always nice. Other than that, I have always felt that the gifts that don't cost anything are the most special. Make him a cd (I even design my own covers, if you have a program you can use) with songs that will remind him of you. Buy a small handmade book and write notes in each page with drawings, collages, pics, momentos like movie tickets, etc. I hope this helps. I am a woman and a total sucker for that stuff. If this doesn't work for you, then buy him something thoughtful that he can use - a flask if he likes to drink, a nice watch, a simple ring, etc. and have it engraved. Whatever you choose to do, I am sure he will love it because it is from you! Good luck!
