Hi,

sorry if this is a really odd question. hopefully going to meet my new girlfriend for the day sometime next week, and want to take some flowers for her. Was thinking of taking them from the family garden, which i thought might be nice, but at the same time i don't want it to seem like i won't spend money etc etc.

any thoughts?

That's even more thoughtful than buying flowers from a store. It shows you really want to make an effort for her, especially if you get some nice ribbon or something to present them nicely. PErsonally, I'd prefer 'home-grown and hand-picked' ones rather than store bought ones myself.

deejuliet agony auntNo, it doesnt seem cheap at ALL! It seems sweet and romantic and absolutely lovely! Pick a beautiful bouquet and tie it with a pretty ribbon, wrap it in some nice tissue paper or put it in an inexpensive glass vase. If she cannot see the beauty of this heartfelt gesture you have more to worry about than seeming cheap.

I think that is so sweet that you want to pick your girlfriend flowers from the family garden. By doing this it shows that you have taken the time and effort to pick the flowers yourself. I wish my ex boyfriend had been as thoughtful!

Just make it a bunch of nice looking flowers. If she thinks it's cheap it's clear it's more important to her to have you pay for flowers then the actual blossoms.

But of course you can jazz them up with ribbon, pretty paper, cloth, small charms, cards... Anything festive you might have lying around.

Yes it seems cheap if she knows they're from your garden. Just don't tell her, or if it's real obvious, just go buy some ten dollar flowers.
