Under-developed?

Question - (13 March 2009) 4 Answers - (Newest, 31 March 2009)
A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

This is a little weird... I'm a 13 year old girl and well I look younger. You see I haven't really started puberty. My period has not come, I'm almost completely flat chested and the only changes I've had are hair down there and growing a little taller.

I feel really ackward because most of my friends are younger than me and more "developed". Some of my friends are 12 and can pass as 15, while I can barely even pass as the age I am. It seems like the other girls are always looking down on me or something.

It helps my self confidence a little to think that two 15 year olds and a 16 year old guy like me, but then I know that they are hanging out with older prettier girls at school and then I feel really bad and weird again.

I know it will, but I still ask will it ever happen? Will I ever be a selfconfident girl that guys will like and not just because, she can hang with them but because she is attractive? Is it normal in any degree to be this way at this age? How much longer do you think I'll have to wait?

"sigh" I think I alredy know the answers but, this seems to have lightened the load a bit. My best friend ever moved 6 months ago and ever since I've had no one to really talk to. Thnx much.

P.S. as trivial as it may seem just a playful joke about being flat chested can really hurt a girl, Please be nice to us we can't do anything about it.

chickchick agony auntI thought this when i was 13 and had the exact same problems.A year on and i have size B boobs going onto C's.

basically all developed from back when i was 13. I used to wear padded bra's as it helped my confidence, maybe you could try this?

There will always be someone who you feel is prettier or better then you, trust me i know!, but in the end , it doesn't really matter about looks.

if they like you they will not mind who's prettier.

but i'de try the padding as personally it helped me :D xx

molly4 agony auntit will happen. i used to really hate being flat chested then all of a sudden i started getting boobs! if you are really self concious about it, you can get trainer bras or bras with a bit of padding. getting pubic hair is a good sign, you know some changes are around the corner! Just be positive and hopeful for the future, and excited about the changes to come. and its totally normal to feel self concious at your age, just not so much its unhealthy. xoxo

As you probably know - everyone develops at a different rate and of course it will happen. It may even happen all of a sudden or quicker than you expected. Do remember you are only 13 and that many people are never in relationships until they are out of their teens.

A female reader, Jessory United States +, writes (13 March 2009):

Jessory agony aunt First off, I am quite impressed with the way you write. I only found one error in your writing. This also impresses me, because of your age and your ability to write this way... You should feel proud that you're not as much of a dunce as most of the people here that ask for help. As an advisor, I get fed up with the arrogant people that can't write for shit, and that are always asking for help on ignorant topics. You should feel honored that I'm not hard on you. If you read any of the other advise I give, then you would know that I'm tough on people... Go figure... Anyways, I really can't put myself in your posistion, due to the fact that I developed quite fast, but I can feel your pain... I do understand your depression about your topic... People are dicks, but one day, you would find your perfect one, and he would love everything about you, no matter what... It might take awhile to find him though... My advise is to stop searching for him, and wait for the day to come when he just pops up out of nowhere... That's what I did, and the love of my life came quick once I gave up searching... Better advise for your problem now is to say fu** them. If they don't like you, or have a problem with your "so called problem" then fu** them... You don't need arrogant people bringing you down... :) EATCHYOWHOPPA!!!
