Hi everyone,

I am in a bit of a pickle here!

My partner and I have arranged to go out tomorrow night (we try and go out for a meal at least once or twice a week) - now, unless you live in a cave, you will realise that tomorrow is Valentine's Day...

It also happens to be the Arsenal v Bolton FA Cup replay... Now, I know this is a bit unusual for a lass to be saying this, but I really want to see the match!

Guys, would you feel a bit put out if your GF asked to watch the football rather than go out for a meal? or do I hint that we go for dinner sooner (and bolt it down) as it is a 20:05 kick off?

I don't wish to sound selfish, I know it is V Day, but I don't want to upset my guy either.

Thanks

willywombat agony auntHAHA!!

Is this for real?

Do you know how many blokes would KILL to have you as their GF?

Honey, enjoy your football!!! Go out after the match, or go to the pub to watch the match...

Me? I hate football, but seeing as I celebrated my wedding anniversary yesterday when it was cheaper and less crowded it doesn't bother me that hubby will watch the footie!!

Enjoy, each to their own.

NuttyGooner agony auntIndia - Hands off! He's my guy! Lol! I love him to pieces, and now you see why! He is adorable, but no! Naughty India!

Max Steel - As I said in an earlier message, I've recently moved out of home on my own, I don't even have a VCR - let alone Sky+ (landlady won't allow it - moo!)

Anyway, everyone thanks for your thoughts and comments Jamer70 (If you want to talk football message me - you will get creamed!) - it was very much appreciated!

Note to Maxsteel - it's not "soccer" mate, it's football.

To Nutty Gooner - glad you've got your priorities sorted. Have a great night, and COME ON YOU GOONERS!!

Note to Jamer70 - you're a sad individual. Up the Arsenal - the best footballing team in the country by a distance.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (14 February 2007):

Hehe, I had mush the same situation on my man's birthday last year. I wanted to watch the footy (Australian Rules football, nothing better!!)match on tv, while he wanted us both to go to a pub for dinner and drinks with his friends. we made a good compromise. Well I think we did, anyway:) I told him 'Look honey, I love you and I want to celebrate your birthday with you, but I don't really want to miss the footy game.' He loves the football too so he was totally cool (and a bit turned on too, I might add!) and chose a pub which has those gigantic screens which shows the match live. So we sould still eat, drink and be merry and I got to watch my boys lose.

NuttyGooner agony auntThanks guys for that - but my partner came up with a better solution...

A little bit of a compromise, as we weren't sure whether he'd like the food where we were planning on going (he's a bit of a fussy eater)... but a KFC bucket, some pop corn and his wide screen HDTV with a live football match and a couple of beers - sounds like heaven to me!

Who said romance is dead? lol!

cd206 agony auntI'm not sure TIVO has made it in the UK yet! The taping the game idea is a good one. I know you'd rather see it live etc but we all have to make sacrifices for lurve!! (except us single and bitter people of course) Enjoy your Valentines Day.

NuttyGooner agony auntVCR? Lol! Sounds too much like common sense to me - I've recently moved out on my own, and don't have a VCR -anyway, it's just not the same as watching the match live!

Perhaps asking him to tape it (if he doesn't want to get an early meal) can be my V day pressie... I am easy to please ;)

Ponungalungb agony auntI've got one word for you "TIVO". LOL. If you don't have Tivo, try another word, "VCR". Can't you video tape the game? Go out with your bf and come home and watch your tape.

If all else fails, tell him you'd like to watch the game. Who knows, he may want to watch it too! You can always order out.

Good luck!
