My doctor said that my uterus lining sheds too many nerves, and that's why I get so much pain.Well, I am fed up with it. I'm 17 years old and the last thing I want is to miss my college classes because of this. The pain gets so terrible I pass out and the paramedics come along to help me breathe. I mean - when I'm literally having an episode I don't care about anything other than how to breathe...and I know it sounds very over-dramatic but I truly feel like I'm dying during those hours! I get so over heated, and I breathe far too quickly and then my legs and arms go numb - oh it's just horrible! I wish I didn't have periods. My twin sister doesn't have the same problem as me - she's the lucky one. She's taller than me, prettier than me...she doesn't have asthma and isn't allergic to cats either, I love cats...she has a boyfriend too - and they get along amazingly well. I used to have a boyfriend but I think I misunderstood him too much, but not a day goes by that I don't wish I tried harder. I knew that he had some issues even before we started dating, and I really, really wanted it to work.Oh god now this has become a 'get things off my chest session'. Sorry guys - but I probably subconsciously did this because I needed to do it. It's been a really bad week for me. I saw my ex boyfriend with another girl today and it surprised me by making me feel ill. I need to just ignore him for a few months I suppose. And of course I've been on my period for about 4 days now - 3/4 having these terrible pains, I've missed about three lessons and instead spent 5 or 6 hours writhing in agony on a horrible chair in the sick room. It makes me want to kill myself. (in a non-literal way of course)Grrr, anyone out there in a similar situation? (the period pain I mean)Oh and of course if you have any advice for me otherwise please do so - I don't mind. God knows...a woman's monthly cycle isn't her only problem. -___-Thanks guys,Kazza

Try birth control pills. I don't get as bad of pain as you, but it does get bad. I'd say yours is about a 9 1/2 and mine is more like a 7. On the pill, it is down to a 2 the majority of the time, and 3 every once in a while. I will only go off the pill when I am in the age range when it is dangerous because of the pain I get. You may have to try a few different pills to find the one for you, but if you talk to a gynecologist they can help you. And don't think the pill is just for sexually active people. A friend of mine is very religious and will not let her daughter use contraceptives, but since her daughter gets pain a lot like yours she put her on the pill. Her pain is way better now. She is only down for the count for about a day every time she has her period. A big difference from 4-5 days.
Good luck and I hope your week goes better.

I'm sorry you had a bad week! As for your cramps... have you tried birth control pills? They can help alleviate the pain from menstrual cramps. You don't have to be sexually active to be on birth control pills. In fact, I had a friend in high school who was on the pill due to cramps. Personally, I take Ibuprofen when I feel cramps coming on, but it sounds like your pain is fairly severe. I have found it's best to take Ibuprofen the second I feel any cramps coming on.
As for your allergy to cats... have you talked to your doctor about allergy medication? There are prescription and over the counter medications that can work wonders! Just make sure the allergy medication is geared toward animal allergies... and make sure it is a "non-drowsy" formula. Oh, and I'm a cat lover too!
I'm sorry that you had to see your ex-boyfriend with another girl. You are doing the right thing by avoiding him and moving on. That's the best thing you can do to get over a broken heart.
I hope you have a better week! Keep your chin up and stay positive! Good luck!
