 I'd say go with your instincts on this one. He could be just joking around and colourful humour's just his way of flirting... but then again just don't rush into anything with him and take the time to get to know him and you'll know soon enough which he really is. Best of luck :)

Seeing from your question, I think that this guy is a sleaze! I have been played over and over and over again because they fake that they like me, and use me until the get what they want. If you guys have only talked a few times, and then, Like you said "out of the blue" asks to hang out, and starts using cheesy lines about sex, then obviously he's only out for one thing....SEX! I say, Leave him be. I have seen this situations too many times to stick around and see what the guy is really like if he's already pulled this. Sure, it may be cute at times, but he seems like he's trying to get one thing and one thing only!! So instead of cheeky, yes, I think that he's a sleaze! Keep your eyes open!
