Warning you now this is going to sound gross but I just wanted to ask on here incase its nothing because I'd rather not have to show this to a doctor or anyone.

A random sort of pea sized lump has grown in my anus, most of the time I can't feel it but its not painful but sort of hurts when disturbed, like going the toilet.

I looked at it in a mirror and its just like a little dark pink/purple colored and appears to fill the hole.

I felt it in the shower and its feels like its grown from inside from something.

I don't know if I've described that very well at all but if anyone knows if it sounds like something I'd appreciate anything you could tell me or any sites you could direct me to.

Thanks.

xxbecksyxx agony auntI suggest seeing your doctor. If your doctor is male, you could always ask if you could see a female doctor, and it might make you feel slightly less embarassed. But there is nothing to be embarassed or ashamed about. Doctors are trained to handle anything.

I would say don't attempt to remove it or to do anything to it until you get it checked out.

Good luck xo.

GrimmReality agony auntSounds like Napoleon's greatest Nemesis...the dreaded Rhoid.

Until you see a doctor, I would suggest you take some hot baths, as that will cause the swelling to go down. Any type of bowel movement will usually inflame the situation, so also watch your diet.

Better get some Preparation H as well.

And NO HORSEBACK RIDING until you see a doctor!

You should see a dr a.s.a.p but until then you can buy over the counter stuff to see if the swelling will go down so you can at least be comfortable. My uncle use to soak in a hot tub to ease the pain and make him a little more comfortable you might also want to put some ebson salt in the hot water it will take the swelling down the dr can tell you ways to keep the swelling down so maybe it wont effect your life so much. Sorry babe

A reader, anonymous, writes (15 August 2009):

I know you will go to the Dr soon because it will get very sore. I'm not a Dr to say what it is, but the examination may be uncomfortable and better to go in it's early stages as uncomfortable may turn into painful. Different Dr surgeries have different charges. If it flares up in the weekend you will pay more for after hour services. Going to the toilet will become worse if you don't go. Dr's see all these sorts of things so don't be embarrassed. I'm not saying you are, but just in case. It's not a spread thing. It sounds like your diet. Or it could be stress. If it is a Haemaroid, go to the Dr quickly. These things left too late may cause further complications. The Dr would give you a little soft oval shaped tablet to put up your anus. And maybe antibiotics, so don't be scared, it's not surgery

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 August 2009):

Sounds like a hemorrhoid, a very common and very painful condition. If it persists, see a doctor. Sorry if it's gross, but two things that are important in making it go away. 1. Eat lots of fiber. Very important. And 2. don't "hold it" if you have to go. That's actually the main cause of the things. Good luck...

Libra1963 agony auntIt sounds like piles. It is in your best interest to get it seen by a doctor. I know it is embarassing but doctors have to look at all sorts of things throughout the day so do not feel embarassed. If it is piles it can be pushed back.

Do not attemp anything without professional advice.
