A male United Kingdom, *earCupid writes:

Hi everyone

We've had a couple of scammers posting private mails through the site.

Please everyone use your common sense and keep yourself safe. This goes for all sites, not just this one!

* Never give anyone your phone number or home email address through the site.

* Never even think about sending money to anyone you "meet" on the web. You may as well flush that money down the toilet.

* Never fall for sob stories from anonymous strangers, particularly when money is involved.

Please check out these links for more info:

I'm going to put in some software that tackles these kind of messages to stop them coming through and also will allow you to report them quickly if you do still receive one.

In the meantime you can private mail me with any reports of dubious messages.

These are all part of the growing pains of the site getting busier and busier and I promise to tackle them :-)))

bubbloo24 agony aunt...A hussy witch who spreads the "love" ..

I think she's got some nerve to even think that we wouldn't see that she had sent messages to ALL OF US after saying that we'd all been "specially chosen" or something crap like that. So... she thinks we're gullible..

The nicest hussy witch I've ever been in contact with.

[sighs]

Came back here after 3 weeks and found someone who is infactuated with me, and she wants to communicate through email. I was like, "I wonder who else is getting this?"

I was very tempted to email 'her' back with an interest in pursuing 'her' love. [laughs] Maybe I'll send her some money so I can fly her here and see her. Yeah that's right. [thumbs up, way way way up]

A male reader, Peterk5699 United Kingdom +, writes (9 August 2007):

Peterk5699 agony auntThese also come in emails. So be careful with them also. And get this: I even got one on Flirtomatic, that's how bad it's getting.

FYI it's called a 491 scam. They come in 2 sorts - The money scam and the love scam.

If you want some fun reading visit 419eater.com. It has loads of stories where the webmaster managed to basically get the scammers wrapped round his little finger then after a while he gives them a big cyber punch and tells them the story will be on the site. It's well worth a read to kill some time and also teaches you how to stay safe.

I'm currently corresponding with two of them, one of them owns a orphanage and the other is a pastor who is working with Jesus for the poor and homeless! I'm seeing what desperate lengths they will go to for money, low life's. :)
