Hi, I am a 16 year old woman and I've been in love with my best friend for a while now. He's 20. I'm not sure if I should tell him and risk our friendship if he doesnt feel the same, or if i should keep it to myself. Please help!

I would not tell him how you feel, if he fancys you then he will tell you. He probably already knows you fancy him without even saying anything because hes your best friend and he does know you better than anyone else.Believe me i have be there and done it and it ended up with my best friend no longer being my best friend because he became all weird and did not know how to act around me, and even if you tell him that you can still carry on as normal and still be best friends you cannot because he will be constantly thinking about it. If you don't want to loose your best friend keep quite if it is meant to be it will happen without you having to tell him.

You obviously have strong romantic felings for your friend. I think that you should have a quiet word with him, however don't be tempted to blurt out "I love you!", if he doesn't have the same feelings you may destroy the friendship.

Perhaps you could suggest just you and him going for a drink, and then test the water and see if he's responsive to anything more than friendship. It's possible that he may feel the same but is too scared to jepordise your friendship. If he isn't ready for a relationship then you have more chance of staying friends if you don't come on too strong and scare him off completely.

You should definitely do something though, it would break your heart if you saw him with someone else and then found out he had romantic feelings for you. You'll never know unless you ask.

Good luck
