Should I lose weight? Would it make my breasts look better?

A female Mexico age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I'm ashamed to ask anyone directly, and I realize you shouldn't get medical advice from the internet but this isn't a sign of something serious, just something about my appearance that I can't stand!

My breasts are disgusting... they're not firm enough, and they are way too large! Even though I fit into a C, they resemble udders and it makes me cringe.

In reference to the REST of my body, I could stand to lose a little weight (I have been told that losing 20 pounds or 9.7 kilograms is a safe goal for me).

If I were to lose 20 pounds, would my breasts likely get smaller? I would love to be an A or a B or at least look less bovine in appearance.

I hate it when people say, you want what you don't have and blah blah blah. I was once a B (when I was 12 years old!) and totally happy.

Are breasts likely to get smaller when you lose a good deal of weight? I am not talking about losing an unhealthy amount of weight, just the ideal amount. Not counting my breasts, I really could stand to lose some weight! My stomach and legs are disgusting, as well.

Furthermore, I'm 32 years old... am I too old to lose weight?

Thanks for your answers.

Plexi agony auntYes, they will get smaller but as you loose fat, which is part of what fills them up, they will also get droopier. If your large chest is causing you health problems such as severe neck and/or back pain then you may want to consult with a doctor and a breast reduction surgery may even be free( depending on your country's medical system) if your doctor feels that it would help with your health concern( but not for cosmetic reasons!)

Hope this helps a bit and good luck to you!!

GeeGee255 agony auntUnfortunately even if you do lose weight the overall shape may not change a whole lot, even if you are happier about how they look at a smaller size. So please don't be to dissapointed if that happens.

Do you have children? I ask because that is when most womens breast change the most, many times for the better especially if you nurse for several months or more.

Either way, just remember that are more than just a pair of breasts. Just ask any breast cancer survivor...

A male reader, The Realist Canada +, writes (13 May 2011):

The Realist agony auntActually one of the first places weight starts to come off is in from the breasts although they will only get down to a certain size dependent on the person and stop there no matter how much weight you lose. Your not too old to lose weight at all. Anyone at any age who says their too old to lose weight is just a quiter who doesn't want to put the effort into it.

If anything you can be better at it because you have so much control over your life. My advice to you though is beware of diets. Unless you are making a life long change in your diet they are the worst thing that you can do. If you are serious about this I would go talk to a nutritionist and a trainer to set you on the right track and you should be amazed with the outcome.
