Hi ya I wrote on here a while ago asking advice. I now need more advice. I have started taking antidepressant at the recommendation of my doctor. But for the first week and a half i felt like all i could was just think about the problems. Now two and a half weeks later i feel like my mood is more stable but i still feel like i stew on things and i dont get upset, happy, sad or angry or cry. I feel like I just am sorta maybe indifferent. And sex drive is non existent. I this normal? Should I feel sorta docile? My problems dont bother as such so much but i still think about them I just dont seem to have as much emotion.

Hiya, yeah its sounds about right. But most anti-depressents take at least 6 weeks to start taking and effect, though ive always found it to be closer to two months whenever i start a new type of anti-depressent. Just stick with it for a couple more months and see how u feel then. If it's still not working I'd say go back to your doctor and tell him. However if you start to feel stupidly down whilst on them, you need to go and see your doctor asap as some anti-depressents canin fact cause you to become randomly suicidal. yeah i know, its eant to make you happier but meh. It's really rare but watch out for it all the same. The only one i have ever tried thats made me suicidal though is citilopram, but thats fairly week stuff.

those are def how antidepressants works. they dont make u happy, they just make u more apathetic.thats why they usually treat people with ocd with antidepressants. also u cant orgasm when taking any ssri (selesctive serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant) which is the most popular and safest brand of antidepressant given. its a common side effect that people get.

u arent going to overcome ur problems on antidepressants, and its been clinically shown that people are likely to fall back into depression after there trial is over.

therapy has been proven to be far more successful, especially cognitive behavioral therapy. maybe u should consider therapy because antidepressants dont really do anything for u but just dull u up.

AvgGuy1 agony auntIf the side-effects are troubling you, speak with your physician. There are multiple brands on the market each with varying/differing side-effects... which might be more suitable/better for you.

However, this SOUNDS like the standard side-effects of taking an antidepressant. You can google the name of the AD to find drug facts on the internet (if your doctor/pharmacist didn't already give you a sheet explaining everything about the drug).

_IF_ you are on antidepressants... I would also HOPE that you are speaking to a therapist. Simply taking the ADs doesn't solve the root problem. If you are not taking with a therapist... ask your physician for a recommendation for one.

These are some of the side effects of anti-depressants. I think its worth going back to the doctor and telling him what has happened with the depressants, in case he can change them or something.
