Just be very careful that your ex doesn't use this against you. He could say that the judge was biased against him because he was with you. So be careful.

 yes just be careful though if you end up having a bad relationship with this lawyer and have to bring him to court there is a really big possibility that it wont turn over well since he works for the court and will know it from the inside out.

 Depending on what kind of case it was.... yeah, sure. You just have to be careful that there isn't an issue with a conflict of interest. For Example: A divorce case could end up coming back to bite either you are him in the butt from the other party thinking you two were planning it all along.
