It is a requirement that the sperm are stored here prior to fertilization in order to achieve capacitation, a process wherby the few sperm that have made it this far go through final maturation and gain there ability to make the last stretch to fertilizing the egg.If you want good chances get a home LH (leutinizing hormone) test kit. Without going into the details what you need to know is that during you oestrus cycle a huge LH surge occurs (LH is a hormone). This is a hormone that amongst other things causes ovulation. Ovulation occurs about 24 hours after the LH surge, therefore monitor you levels according to the instructions and guidline levels of LH hormone, and on the DAY of you LH surge have sex. Now some genuine tips about this, make sure you take your time and use plenty of forplay, you need to be in a heightened state of arousal your not just gunna be insemnated, try and time it perfectly so that he ejaculates at the time of your orgasm, your vaginal contractions will help move sperm towards the oviducts. The day after your LH surge you will ovulate and your partners sperm will have been stored, capacitated and released into the oviduct. Now, to increase you chances of conception I would advise having sex on the day of ovulation too, so you are served twice in the 24 hours surrounding your LH surge and ovulation. The optimum fetile period is from day 1 to 4 of oestrus, thats taken from the day of your LH surge.I hope this helps, by the way Im a veterinary student but you may be interested to know that nearly all mammals operate in a very similar way. (and yes we are mammals)

Actually the best day to conceive is the day before ovulation. If you have sex the day before ovulation the sperm is sitting there waiting when the egg is released and ovulation occurs.
The next best day is On the day of ovulation.
All three can't hurt. Good luck.
