People say when you want to be confident, you should look at what you´re good at. What does that mean? does that mean good at sports, good at talking in front of a large crowd (not for me)? Or ist it something else. If so what?

"Looking at what you're good at" means that you look at the things that you do well. If you need to appear confident it's great to think about all the things that you do well ("I'm an excellent linguist, I have received the nobel price in litterature, all my lovers think my boobs look great...." you get the point). But personally I don't think this is something that lasts. Real confidence lie in knowing that you can rely on yourself. It's like knowing inside that "no matter how bad life may become at one point or another, I have the ability to get myself out of it and it will make me stronger".
I think your idea of travelling around in europe alone is a great way to build confidence. It's a great confidence booster to know that you can get along anywhere.

It means doing more of anything you are already good at to build confidence to do other things. That is not such a great answer because that can be too limiting. You really have to push to find your own potential and limits, then try to succeed within them.
But if your looking for a starting point, its as simple as asking yourself why you don't feel confident and working on yourself step by step.
True confidence comes from within. It has alot more to do then just defining your worth thru deed. I think the core of confidence comes from a strong value system (self-love, respect, faith, trust). When you have a strong set of values to guide you, it is easier to accept failure as part of the process to success and presevere. Confidence can come from knowing what you want out of life and the trust in yourself to stand by your beliefs. This takes alot of introspection. Hope you've got alot of time.
