It's so bad for me that it makes me throw up and all I can do is curl up in a ball with a hot water bottle until it goes away 3 hours later. I take Midol sometimes but even after that it's still really discomforing and all I can do it just lay there and try to take it. I excersise regularily, and that's supposed to help but it seemingly doesn't xDAny positions I could try to make it hurt less? Anything? Reply to this Question Share |

While period cramps aren't pleasant, if they are debilitating, it can be a warning sign.

If you have never seen an OB/GYN, this is a good reason to go and ask them this question! You really need a trained medical doctor to do tests and a physical exam on you in order to determine the cause of your cramps, JUST IN CASE! Whether or not they feel extreme, they could actually be a symptom of something more than just your period.
It's probably nothing, and then you can discuss with the doctor if there is anything that they can do to alleviate and help with how painful they are.
Make a list of everything that you experience and tell your doctor every sign and symptom. A doctors diagnosis is like a triangle - the three sides of that triangle are the doctors knowledge, the physical exam, and what the patient tells the doctor (like the fire triangle from science class "fuel/oxygen/combustion", remember?).
You have to take responsibility for yourself and your own health, and once you have your period, it's important to take care of your reproductive health too. Don't be afraid - doctors are their to help. Talk to your Mom and get an appointment. XXX

If this hasn't worked and it's so bad that you have to curl up in bed for hours then perhaps you should go to the doctors, or call them. They can advise you on what else you can do, or prescribe you something that will help.

A nice hot bath and some chocolate normally works for me
Also rubbing ur lower stomach, firmly but not too harsh, feels better if someone else does it for you too
If its causing a lot of stress a visit to the doctor may be needed,
hope you feel better soon chick :)

Try to take Aleve. I had a coworker who had incredibly bad period pains and she said Aleve helped. It worked for me once too when I nearly fainted two times because of the pain. After you pop the pill and fall asleep, the pain is gone.
However, if this doesn't work, they say that baths are always a very soothing and relaxing thing.
Other than that, yeah I just let it happen. I see it as a natural part of life. I would try to read a book or watch a movie to take your mind off of it. Thank about it this way, this is your body prepping you for when or if you'll give birth. I know that isn't very comforting, but it is just a part of a girl's life. Better to embrace it than hate it.
