Masturbating Won’t Make You Blind, BUT

A female United States age 51-59, bootydoctors writes:

~ I recently read an article about masturbation, and it got me wondering about the effects of too much masturbation. The article focused on men being unable to orgasm during sex, but there are other dangers as well.

First of all, let me say that masturbating daily is not a big deal. If you’re doing it several times a day, however, there could be negative effects. Some studies link excessive (3+ times a day) masturbation with prostatitis, which is an irritation of the prostate gland. It’s a very uncomfortable illness; treatable with antibiotics in some cases, but why take the chance? Excessive masturbation can also desensitize the penis, making it difficult or impossible to ejaculate during sex with a woman. And finally, it can lead to a zinc deficiency. Weird fact: most of the zinc in your body lives in your sperm and seminal fluid. What’s the big deal about that? Zinc is one of the minerals that keeps you from getting colds, so without enough zinc, you might get sick more often.

Here are some signs that masturbation may be a problem for you:

1. You’re unable to cum during sex

2. You feel discomfort “down there” during ejaculation (between your penis and your anus—that’s where your prostate is)

3. You can’t focus on work because you’re thinking about masturbating

4. You lose the thread of a conversation—repeatedly—because you’re thinking about masturbating

5. You’re chronically late because you have to masturbate before you leave

6. You’re not getting other things done because you’re beating off instead

If none of these things are true for you, then don’t give it another thought. Whack off, and have a blast. If one or more are true for you, you might want to look for the underlying cause of such excess. We know that we masturbate because of boredom, or to relieve stress. Increased stress is a common trigger, so you might want to identify the stressor if you haven’t already. Then you can come up with other ways to blow it off. Exercise is the best way… and maybe you can do a little horizontal tango. J

So don’t worry. You won’t go blind, and your jerking hand won’t lead to bigger biceps in that arm. It’s perfectly normal to pleasure yourself, and if you’re worried about how long you last with your woman, jerking off before sex will probably make you last longer.

wow , masterbating is one of the ways you can learn to last longer when you are with a woman. It allso will help you teach your partner more about your body then she will know without you telling her.

being able to please yourself gives you the gift of being able to teach another what gives you pleasure. and vise versa. having a orgasam has as much to do with our mental state then anything else. remmeber the biggest sex organ is not you penis or a womans large breast its your brain. it all starts there..

bootydoctors is verified as being by the original poster of the question

bootydoctors agony auntGreat question-- yes, the results are the same for women as men, except for the zinc (because we don't generally lose fluid, unless your a squirter). We can also get yeast infections-- but you can get those from any kind of sex, solo or otherwise.

A female reader, BagLady United States +, writes (3 March 2010):

For women masturbating too much has similar effects

1)it's harder to cum during sex

2)you can cause yeast infections because the excess fluid can alter the PH in your vagina.

3)you can get more frequent UTIs if you rub the clitoris too much the germs from you fingers, or other places like you anus, sweat in that area can easily infect sore tissue.

4) Women also can fall into ANY/ALL the categories 1-6 that are listed in the article.

Don't know about the zinc though O_o

owencallos agony aunti agree that masturbating eases stress, but not to be done regularly bc it will at a long affect ur health and thinking faculty.one can masturbate when ur man/woman is away, without looking at porn ,just jerk ,and be free.this is easier than killing ur health.

A male reader, JoeM Ireland +, writes (25 February 2010):

I have suffered from masturbating too much in the past (more than 3 times a day).

I think for a combination of reasons, to relieve stress, boredom... but I think when you do it everyday for a year or more it becomes a habit that you cant stop, you need it to feel happy.

People say so what... but truth is it does effect your focus on work, and if you start looking at porn while you masterbate it can become a lenghty session, not just a quick few minutes.

This can all add up to loss of interest in work, lead to depression and anxiety etc.

To get over this I just stopped masterbating completely and stopped watching porn for about a week, just to break the habit. After that initial break, I only allowed myself to masturbate last thing at night, to help me relax and go to sleep.

But I gave up watching porn completely and no longer masturbate during the day. Now I find I have more energy and focus on my work. And all round happier that I'm not being distracted by an itch in my pants!

I still really enjoy my bedtime "release" but that is enough masterbation to keep me happy!!
