I understand people will tell me to stay away and don't go there or whatever but I really want to understand, in a way, the laws and what happens if it's under that age. It's just a simple question that I have, because I have thought for a while now if you are over 18 then its okay? or am i mistaken?I would totally appreciate ANY feedback on this, it would be greatly receivedThank you a lotxxxx Reply to this Question Share |

If you are 18, it is legally allowed, however professionally it is not. He could lose his job and it might prevent him from getting references and therefore potentially difficult for him to get another teaching job.
A

I am a teacher and know that any relationship taking place IN the institution can lead to a sacking ( or even prison if the student is under 16 for obvious reasons).
However, if the student is an adult, (18 or over) and both adult and teacher consent to a relationship OUTSIDE of the department - I do not know of any laws that could be broken here.

usually a teacher is forbidden to have a relationship with a student. usually if they are found out the educational board get involved and the student is usually expelled and the teacher is fired and not allowed to teach at other schools, so basically his/her career would be ruined.
not really worth it after studying for 5 years to become a teacher and have it all ruined by some loved up teen. best stay away and keep to guys your own age or any guys that are not your teachers.

Since you both are of age, I don't think there is any legal issue, however there are probably some policy issues with the school. I am thinking there is something in his contract with his employer that states Teachers are forbidden to be envolved with thier students. You are not the first student to have a crush (or obsession) with thier teacher. Be careful, and Good Luck.
