A female reader, anonymous, writes (19 August 2008):

it's normal to find someone of the opposite sex attractive, or even not of the opposite sex. as a female, if you yourself can notice another attractive female, then you have to expect that your man might too. it doesn't mean anything. i certainly will notice an attractive man if he passes by me, but i'm simply admiring him for his looks. it doesn't change the fact that i am deeply in love with my boyfriend and only want to be with him.

A female reader, PsyCookie United States +, writes (16 August 2008):

PsyCookie agony auntThis is a normal feeling to have. Many men and women are afraid of what others will think of them which creates a subconcsious feeling of being less than others.

But what you're doing will affect your relationship in the future. You have to accept that he will look at other girls because HE CAN'T HELP IT. I mean, he has to look up to know where he's going! So what do you want him to do? Go walk blind so he doesn't look at anybody else? And if he looks at a woman, so what? Will he go up there and hump her? Or want to go and kiss her? Or dump you right there? Has he done that at all? Get real.

If you keep on doing this, it will negatively affect your boyfriend and your relationship. Eventually, he will think you're controlling and neurotic and someone who has absolutely no confidense in herself. You're really lucky that your boyfriend likes you so much that he's trying to be understanding, but be aware that this will not last long. He WILL get fed up. One of the biggest turn offs for anybody is lack of self-confidence. Remember that.

Now what you have to do is boost up your self confidence. I don't understand how you feel so ugly when you KNOW you're not and even more when people have told you you're pretty. But I want to remind you that you're boyfriend is with you not because of you'r beauty, but because of YOU. If he had only been with you for how you look like, he would have left you long time ago as he would not have put up with your silly demands. It's OBVIOUS he's very into you and that he loves you, so why worry about your own looks? Sounds so vain of you. Sorry to tell you.

Remember also that he's with YOU and he chose YOU above else. So what if he looks at another girl? HE WILL NOT GO FOR HER. Put that in your mind once and for all. Also, understand that you're not a trophy for him, you're his girlfriend and the love of his life! He's not out with you in public to show you off! He's out with you because he likes to have fun with you and want to go out to have more fun.

Please don't ruin your relationship for your irrational feelings. You know you're pretty, you know he loves you, and you know that he will love you no matter what. I bet that he's happy to be with you and I bet that he will never think of you as ugly. I even bet that he thinks you're the prettiest girl when you're out. So please appreciate this guy and try to get better self-confidense, or else he might leave you and it will be your own fault.

A female reader, Emaz help United Kingdom +, writes (16 August 2008):

Emaz help agony auntwhy would you feel ugly with him but without him you feel pretty?

It's ok for him to look but not touch and he obviously loves you because he kows how you feel about it.

Looking at other people is just what everyone does so don't worry about it, it's human nature

If he wanted to be with other girls then he would split up with you but you've lasted a long time so hes obviously not going to

You just seem insecure that's all and soemtimes when im out and feel im not looking my best or haven't got my extensions in or soemthing then i feel quite insecure so you're normal for feeling like that but your insecurity is a bit too much though so you need to try to not worry about him looking at other people

Dont let him go!!! If he's accsepting you for this its obvious that you could last but youve got to just grin and bear it! Eventually when you go further in your relationship he'l only have eyes for you. ;-) good luck p.s if he can look at gurls you can look at boyz it might make him see it from your side of things.
