I'm just a little nervous because my whole family is very "fertile" when my birth mother got pregnant with me she claims she was on birth control. Should I be worried that I made a mistake? : /

Agree everyone here is way too alarmist. The question was specifically about pregnancy, not STDs. As a physician, I can say if you are taking birth control pills as prescribed they are over 90% effective in preventing pregnancy WHEN HAVING UNPROTECTED SEX REGULARY FOR 1 YEAR! She had intercourse only once. She will NOT become pregnant unless she was BOTH ovulating AND not taking the pills as prescribed!

I think the advice given so far is too alarmist. Sure, there is a chance that a woman can become pregnant while on the pill. However, many couples rely upon the pill as their primary and only means of birth control, and do so quite successfully. If you are both committed to each other and known to be STD free, and are willing to accept the small risk that a pregnancy can still occur, then I say go ahead.

You should be worried about more then just an pregnancy! I've been to 3 funerals of (AIDS} VICTIMS and one them was a 3 year old who wasn't able to make a choice rather she would wear a condom, she was only 3 years old! Make the "RIGHT" choice while you still have a choice!!!

If you are worried, go to a doctor or pharmacy (depends upon the state you are in) and ask for the "Morning After Pills".

The others are right. Was it everything you hoped it would be at least?

Yes, the pill isn't 100% effective, abstinence is the only method that's 100%. If you're taking any antibiotics for a sickness then that can counteract your birth control. As a result, you could get pregnant. Use condoms, regardless whether he doesn't like them or not, it's a precaution that's necessary and recommended in preventing a pregnancy and STDS.

Yeah, you probably shouldn't have done that lol...You can always go to the doctors and they'll give you a "morning after pill" if you're really concerned. I think it works upto 72 hours after you've had sex. The main thing to do though is not constantly worry about it because you can set your mind into thinking you could well be pregnant, when you're just being too paranoid. Depending on what kind of birth control you're on, there is a high chance that you're not going to get pregnant, but as you say you're family is "very fertile", so you might wanna just go for the morning after pill just to be extra careful :)

Yes, you should be worried, because if you've made it until here (having sex that is), you probably know that birth control pills are not always effective. There's always a slight chance to get pregnant when on pills only. Be careful next time, if you want to avoid pregnancy (and SDTs).
