Is this just friendship or can it be more?

There is this guy i think he is kinda cute but, im not sure if he likes me like that. I mean when we are together I get butterflies. When we are in class and we get to choose our seats we always sit next to each other and a couple of times we have held hands but, it was quick because the teacher saw and said to stop. We have the next class in the same hall and we always walk together. At fist when we said bye we just waved bye but, one day he started to give me a hugs and a couple of the hugs were kinda long. Then the bell would rang and we would stop. So now school is out and we live in the same complex and we are together almost everyday. Can somebody tell me if we are just like best friends or can it end up being more.
