I was just wondering-- my boyfriend and I are having a baby boy due this March, and my absolute favorite name that i have picked out just happens to be the name of this guy i used to hook up with... i want that name so bad but it's kind of been bugging me... is it weird to name your child the same name as an old lover? i haven't mentioned it to my boyfriend yet because i think it'll probably make him mad and i really want that particular name more than any others.is it wrong to do that? I'm quite sure that you will find that once you meet your baby, and name him, it will be his name and his alone, and any past association that you have of it being your ex's name will be the furthest thing form your mind. Just make sure that it's a name that you are comfortable screaming that name off of your front doorstep - that's the important factor! - "Jonathan - GET HOME FOR DINNER!". Well you're not calling the baby after them so it should be fine. But if everytime you hear the name you will think about your ex then this is probably not appropriate. If not then go for it! x

It's not wrong in the slightest bit, if you like a name you like a name! I've always said I'd call my daughter Georgina, it just so happened that it's my girlfriend at the minutes name! xx

Hmmm i dont think it wierd, just one day when you are choosing names just suggest randomly this name you like and then talk about it, your bf might not even know or have forgotten its your ex's name =] x

It is kind of weired, but if you really like the name and you other half has no objections. Why not?
