Is it normal to become wet when aroused?

Question - (24 June 2010) 9 Answers - (Newest, 16 July 2010)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm 16 and I'm a virgin. I've been with my boyfriend just over 8 months. Whenever I'm with my boyfriend and we are making out or whatever you like to call it I feel myself getting really wet. So when he starts to touch me (outside of clothes) I feel really awkward because I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I know that obviously women do get wet but this is like REALLY wet once things are abit heated between us.

He once told me that he felt it through my leggings although I'm not quite sure. I find it quite embarassing because I'm not sure whether it's just me but my boyfriend says he likes it but I stop him from going under my clothes and touching me incase this isn't right and I need to get checked out or something

My question is:

Is this normal to become so wet without actually having sexual intercourse?

How can i prevent myself from becoming so wet as I've been reading up and apparently it can be a problem when having sex and sometimes a turn off to men?

Thanks x

insrchof agony auntYou shouldn't worry about it at all. AS stated by others who answered this question, most guys think it's an incredible turn on. It's a sure sign that we (guys) are doing something right. Any guy who says it's a turn off has a problem. Don't even think about it. It's also a sure sign for you that you are turned on.

The Realist agony auntIt is perfectly normal to be like this. Getting so wet means that you are really turned on by your bf. Also some girls just naturally become wetter than others.

It can make sex a little messy but I would never call it a turn off. Any guy who understands how the parts work would know that you being wet means that you are in to him. Its far better to be too wet than too dry and have to rely on lubes that leave everything feeling really gross.

Any time you're turned on you'll get wet and it will make some guy very happy one day.

Yes, you're a perfectly normal girl. This is natural and is actually needed for you to be able to have sex. It's not a problem having sex, and it's in no way a turn off (unless the man doesn't understand how women work). I'm not sure where you were reading that, but it's wrong. You're a normal girl.

A reader, anonymous, writes (24 June 2010):

It's perfectly normal to become "wet" during any interactions with your boyfriend.

Your body is producing a natural lubricant which would help during intercourse when you are ready. Producing more lubricant helps during sex as it makes it less painful for you.

It's not really possible to prevent yourself from becoming wet. It's not really a problem during sex and if your current boyfriend is the person you want to lose your virginity to, it should not bother him how wet you get when aroused.

It's natural, and a big turn on for men. Don't worry about it. It actually makes sex easier and more enjoyable. :)
