tennisstar88 agony auntMost places won't let 17-18 year olds sign a lease without a co-signer...Or some don't even offer that simply because you don't have any credit established. Look into first. It's very, very expensive to live on your own.. You got to have a deposit which you will eventually get back and you're locked into a lease for 1-2 years. There's rent, cell phone, cable/internet, utilities, car payment, and car insurance. Plus, you figure in groceries which aren't cheap. It's possible but you have to learn how to budget your money. That's hard to do at 17...I would stay at home while you can continue to save money and get a cell phone in your name at 18 so you can practice paying a bill and establishing a little credit. I moved out at 19, then moved back in, then moved out at 20 then moved back in at 23, then now I'm moved out for good at 25. Just make sure your parents have a revolving door like mine. Sorry sweetie but at 17 you're just not mature enough to move out.

misfitschik66 agony auntWell.. this is tricky

I personally moved out on my own when i was 16 too a whole different province(i live in canada lol)

it all depends on the laws really..in canada you can live on your own at the age of sixteen and your parents can not do anything about it(my mom did not mind my dad did though and threatened to come get me)

I moved out with my boyfriend at the time and had the time of my life and i would never change that for anything

if you have the money and your ready no one can stop you in less the laws say other wise check them out for your area and REALLY think about it first it is NOT easy to live on your own

it's a huge responsibility

It's not too young to move out, but you might want to make a budget so you can see how much you would save (if you would be saving much) once you started having to pay rent, buy groceries, pay for phone, internet, cable, etc etc etc. Lots of people stay at home a little longer so they can save more money to pay for a down payment on a car or an apartment. Remember, when you're renting, that's money that won't come back and won't be buying you a house or a car. It's purely for you to live in a place, and it's nice to be on your own with that freedom, but so is buying things that will last.
