writes: Do i have an eating disorder?I have always been thin, but when i started my period (quite late, last year), i did put a few pounds on, i went from being size 6/8 to a 10/12. It didnt seem to bother me while i was at school though and i was happy to eat whatever i wanted. Even when i was size 6/8 before i just ate what i wanted and it never seemed to touch meSince leaving school and starting college i have become obsessed. I have lost weight i have gone back down to size 6/8 by starving myself and going to the gym, which just made me bad tempered and miserable. My mum and dad started noticing and got really upset with it all, which caused massive rows about my eating. I have started eating again, but im terrified i will put weight back on, so im constantly counting calories and on a normal day i eat around 800 - 1000 calories. i have breakfast and then starve myself until tea time. I lie to my parents about what ive had to eat just to keep them happy. When i go out with friends and they decide to go for food at mcdonalds or pizza hut, i js sit there with a drink and say im not hungry, even though i am hungry, i just dont want to eat all those calories. This has started to control me now and im scared that im getting too obsessed, but im really scared to start eating the calories i should be consuming a day (2000) because i think that i will put back on the weight. One day i baked with my friend and i had about 3 buns before my tea and i felt really annoyed with myself so i made myself sick. This really scared me because never did i think id make myself sick.I know im thin, and feel happy with my weight again, but starving and skippin meals is making me miserable. The scary thing about it is that i want to be thinner than what i already am, and i think its taking over my life now. can someone give me advice?

You have taken things a step too far but not too far that you cant sort this out. I dont think there is anything wrong with calorie counting, and maccy d's isn't healthy food anyway, but if you go on sparkpeople. com its a free site that tells you how many calories you can eat a day and stay at the weight you are now, healthily. Making yourself sick, is very bad for your health and rots your teeth. Being a size 6/8 will be no use if you have rotten teeth ey!
Check that site out, and still visit the gym, and you wont have to put on weight. Chill a bit. There are far more important things in life than what we weigh, and as you get older you will see what i mean.

You need professional help!Anorexia can have serious consequences on your physical and mental health. It was shown a couple of years ago that normal volunteers given a diet too low in calories began to show signs of mental impairment. Basically, if you don't eat enough you start to go crazy a bit, and then of course you won't be able to help yourself. Talk to your parents as soon as possible and ask for their help in getting medical assistance. It's good that they were concerned, but they can't solve your problem by themselves, as you can see that their fighting with you did nothing to get you to eat. Just say to your parents "I need help, please call the doctor NOW! I've been starving myself and I can't stop it."

The best way to lose weight is to eat quite early in the morning, you know what they say: A king's breakfast, a prince's luch and a porper's dinner. This will also help you sleep better. You are sixteen! You do not need to diet at sixteen (Unless you are morbidley obeese, WHICH YOU ARE NOT). Here, if it makes you feel better, I'm 12 and I'm a 10- 12 (Womens sizes!). Okay. Look after your self.

You're not eating enough calories for your body to function healthily. You're making yourself vomit after you eat. You're going out to 'eat' with your friends, then watching them eat whilst you're actually hungry, but you're not eating. You want to be thinner than you are, and you're probably too thin already. You have an eating disorder. This is something that is very dangerous and bad for your health in the long run. You need to seek help for this right now. Let your parents know that you have an eating disorder, admit it to them. Then ask for their help in finding psychotherapy. The longer you leave it the greater the chance of you doing permanent damage to your body, so don't delay.
