At the moment, me and my boyfriend use condoms and I have no problem with them, they just ruin the mood sometimes. So I'm thinking about going on the pill. The problem is, I've heard alot of different stories about the pill.

Some say it's good, other don't agree. I've looked up the pill on the internet several times and read about the side effects and so on, but I'd like to know what other people think about the pill.

Would you advise I go on the pill?

Did you have any major problem with it?

Do you know any other methods which you think are better than the pill?

Anything else you think is important, I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

Lunaa agony auntI would talk to your doctor about some other methods also, im on the patch (ortho evera) and i would never use anything else...its all about finding the right birth control method for you but remember not to stop using condoms because birth control wont protect against STD's

-NothingLasts4ever- agony auntThanks for that advice. I'll be sure to let him know seeing as he is one of the main reasons why I'm gonna start taking it so it'll be stupid to then mess it up by having random mood swings.

I do think the pill is a good thing, but I would just like to warn you that sometimes it takes a while to find the "right" pill for you.

Every woman is different and we all react in different ways to the hormones being put into our bodies by the pill. The first pill I went on turned me into a hormonal monster, and my personality changed completely. I went from being happy, to miserable, paranoid and almost suicidal. I didnt connect the problems with the pill until I went back to the doctors because I thought I was going mad. I have now swapped to a different pill, and things are slowly getting better.

Please dont assume that taking the contraceptive pill is like taking paracetamol for a headache. They have a much longer lasting and far more extreme effect on your body, and can take a while to adjust to. Also tell your boyfriend when you start taking it, as he may not understand your sudden changes in mood, and may thing it is him or that somehting in your relationship is wrong.

Good luck!

-NothingLasts4ever- agony auntThanks everyone for your posts. I'll tell my mum that I want to go on it and then we'll arrange to go to the doctors.

But thanks for helping.

GO ON IT!!!

i was the same when i first wanted to take it, becuse of so many myths that were on the net etc, but in actual fact not many people get side effects, ur doctor will tell u all about it anyway, and there are a few diff types of pill, he will give you wat is best for you. if you get side effects he can change it (for example my doc sed because i had a few spots, the pill could make acne develop, but he sed try it, and if it gets worse he would change me to a diff type)

Best descision i made though :D

Oh yeah, go on the pill. Im on it, have been 10 month, wouldnt have it any other way, it has a lot of benefits not just contraception for example, i always know when im going to get my period and i can delay it if i wish. Im also getting a lighter and less painful period thanks to the pill. Personally, ive never had any problems with it, but everyones different.

well im on the pill and i love it, i know when im getting my period and it sure regulates it and it becomes lighter so is has good advantages but time to time i do get very bad headaches and i do feel sick to my stomach sometimes but not that it bothers me, so it really depends on the type of pill u use and how ur body reacts to it

hi, when i went on the pill i took a blood clot, although i know a lot of people who are on the pill and have had no problems, everyone is different. there is contraception injections you can get but your best talk to your GP and ask about your options, as samii says the pill dosent protect you against sti/std's you will need a condom too im afraid.....

hope this helps
