I don't wanna see a doctor as i know that this isn't an infection because i read that infections are usually red, swelled up and also release puss and smell bad. I have none of these symptoms at all - just pain! I have neglected bathing my belly button for a while now because i thought it was nearly healed and there was no pain at the time, could this be the cause? I also heard from a friend that it could be an outgrowth and that the piercing could just wedge its way out...Does anyone know the problem, and is there a way to treat it? xxx Reply to this Question Share |

What's more important babe your health or your piercing?
If you go back to the person that done it you will not get a professional opinion, it really does need to be seen by someone that knows what they are talking about and at the end of the day your mum and us aunts are only guessing at what could be wrong as we are not the professionals.
Take care.xx.

I had my belly button pierced in my 20's and the same thing happened to me shortly after the bottle of disinfectant ran out that the piercer gave me. I needed antibiotics for the infection and had a permanent scar. Basically you need to see a doctor and I suggest you go to A&E with a parent. Infections don't always have marked external symptoms like discharge or much redness but they can have very serious implications like blood poisoning. You may love your piercing but honestly it is not worth causing a nasty health problem!

Do you think she could be right? Cause the pain did kinda happen suddenly...so i've maybe caught it on something without realising. Also, i'm unsure who to see about this - should i go to the doctor or the place where i had it done? I'm just scared that if i do go to doctors then he'll take it out! And i would be soo gutted if that happened and i really wanna avoid that if possible! x

Your body may well be rejecting the piercing, i know when i had mine done it went exactly the same, i did keep on cleaning it and then took it out after a few months to give it a clean it closed up totally within ten mins, just was not supposed to be, if i could go back to then i would certainly not have it done again as the scar i have left there is so unattractive.
I agree with the others about going to the doctors and getting it checked out because if it is something like blood poisoning you could be in big trouble if you don't get it sorted.

If it's still bad after two days, you need to see a doctor, especially as you are quite young.
It would be best to show your parents, though, as they can decide more by looking at it.
Sometimes piercings just don't work out, you may be allergic to the metal, or any number of things, but it is really not worth the risk.

I agree with Dextro. You need to go to the doctor, and you should have been washing around your belly button because it's really important to stay clean. Go get it checked out, it might be infected and you might not know. Good luck.

You NEED to she your doctor it is proberly infected and you dont always see the signs. if you have not washed the area for a while this is proberly the cause of any infection as if you get a piercing you open you skin up and germs can get in if not taken care of.
i would also remove any belly bar you still have in.
