People who don't use contraception and use the pull out method without a doctors help are usually called parents. Very bad idea, large chance of pregnancy or picking up a STD which will put your life a risk.

Reduce, yes. Prevent, no. Is there a reason you wouldn't use condoms and birth control pill (preferably both)? If you both feel too awkward getting these, then you are not ready to have sex. I am very thankful that you were able to find some answers on this site, and I hope you will not try to do this as a way to prevent pregnancy.

The best advice I can give you is, if you have sex there is always a risk of getting pregnant.

oh dear... you need to do some serious reading on reproduction... just keep your sex life to talking about it till you figure out how EASY it is to get pregnant or get an STD...
there is something called precum... you can get pregnant from that and it's before he ejaculates.
so sex without birth control (condoms, pills, IUD, implants, etc) could very much be a pregnancy

This method didn't work for either of my brothers. I'm an auntie (twice!) because they thought they were ok if they pulled out.
If you are going to have sex, he needs to at least be wearing a condom. You should follow the instructions that come with them and he should read them and understand how to use one properly before you have sex.

No!!!
If you think you're grown up enough to have sex (which you're not because you're a minor under the legal age of consent), then you need to be a grown up and use birth control..and condoms. It's a illegal for you to have sex.
Don't want a baby, then don't have sex. Wait till you're legal and definitely more mature enough.

reader, anonymous, writes (26 November 2011): Basically this is how pre-ejaculate works (precum). When a man becomes sexually aroused he releases a clear, odorless discharge/fluid from his penis which is very hard to see. It you ever do see it, it looks like a clear, shiny substance and doesn't have a texture. Also your partner cannot tell whether he has released pre-ejaculate. So dont believe him if he says he hasn't!.
When this discharge...pre-ejaculate is released during sexual intercourse, it does contain sperm. Admittably it doesn't contain a lot of sperm but it contains enough sperm to make a baby. It only takes one little sperm to make a baby. So basically whether it releases a lot or a bit - all you need is one sperm.
When a man ejaculates prior to intercourse, the sperm contained in pre-ejaculate does increase by 20%, especially if you have sex again right after he ejaculated.
Also if he masturbated and ejaculated, then has sex, the above scenario applies again - sperm has increased by 20% in the pre-ejaculate.
So basically, whether he ejaculates prior to having sex or not, and pre-ejaculate is released - you can become pregnant.

reader, anonymous, writes (26 November 2011): If you have to ask that question, you're not ready to be having sex.
Yes, the chance is REDUCED but it doesn't make it impossible. Even if he pulls out, he can't control pre cum, which can contain sperm. Also, he may not be experienced in knowing when is the right time to pull.
I suggest that if you're going to have sex, don't use the withdrawal method. Best bet is to use condoms, they're the only thing that will protect against STIs too. If you dont want to use them, go on the pill.
Either way, you need protection. Just cos you're young doesn't mean you won't get pregnant!
Better to be safe than sorry...
