That guys reply is rather immature. What you need to do is make sure that she is allowed to have a boyfriend. Do you hangout with this girl alot. If you want to be friends with her even if she says no, tell her that you do not want to feel weird and that you still want to be best friends. She will appreciate you being totally honest with her.
