if you need to gain weight the healthy way, do not eat any fast food or junk food, and unhealthy foods. this will build the bad fat. eat a lot more vegetables, fruits, moderation of lean meat and raw nuts (unsalted, and or baked). for drinking, drink fat-free or low fat milk, tea, and most importantly water. however still consult your doctor regarding your health issue and concerns. also do not forget to exercise daily or at least play your favortie sport.

I would consult the doctor they can help. You are a ballet dancer and they stay slim and some are forced to eat smaller portions to weight less. Are you serious about ballet? Ballet/ dance is one of the hardest/greatest workouts and if you dance lets say 7 days a week for an hour and haf your gonna keep weight even with a balanced diet. Also as said sme people are slimmer then other. I use to be a ballet dancer got up to 5 days a week hour and a half work outs ate healthy and was a bit underweight but nothing serious. I have quit ballet because of physical problems but ive still stayed excersing and eating healthy and im still a bit underweight but i have nothing seriously wrong. Check with you doctor if nothing seems to work tell him/her your scedule your and eating habits.

I am wondering if someone else has called you 'skeleton like' as this seems like a derogatory phrase? Often people are criticised for being thin in their teens and whilst it is important to eat healthily it should also be seen as a time of transition when sometimes you grow in height and then some weight catches up. Good advice from others on this post - weights / gym / dancing - just good for your health and esteem and will help your body develop a toned, healthy shape that is naturally yours. Remember some people are naturally slimmer than others - what is important is that you are healthy.

As a general rule if you think you should go to the doctor then go. Since you don't want to look "skeleton like" while at the same time not become fat -I'm assuming- try weight lifting. It will build you up and keep you healthy at the same time. Of course this all depends upon what the doctor says. Please take his/her advice over mine. Take care.

DrPsych agony auntYou are young and your body is still developing so don't give up hope that you may get bigger naturally. By all means see a doctor or nutritionalist. However, you may wish to start with moderate use of the weight gain protein drinks for sale at health food shops and increasing the carbohydrate content of your diet (pasta etc).

myp agony auntif you dont want to be too thin work out and tone up. Notice i didnt say beef up. Ballet's excellent, i dance also. But if you really want to gain weight definitely go to a doctor, who can monitor your body and help you with a proper diet plan thats right for your body.

hi sweety, this makes a pleasant change normally people want to loose weight! if your 6 1/2 stone and over 5'2'' then your under weight.but if your eating and exercising normally you probably have a naturally high metabolism so the digestive process in your body is very efficient. Its probably a good idea to see your doctor(its free after all!) but if you feel fit, dont have dizy spells and have normal regular periods you shouldn't have much to worrry about. keep the sensible head on your shoulders. love anon x
