And the fact that he's 20 and I'm 15 becomes a problem. He promised me that we wouldn't have sex until it was legal and I was ready. Truthfully we're both Virgins and neither of us know exactly what to do. So I am glad that he's not too far ahed... But It is becoming hard to see each other. My mother is becoming very suspicious. If she ever leaves for a few hours at her boyfriends house, and he's in the area, we go to the park and hang out. It's risky business but I don't think I've ever been happier. I've never done anything wrong before and have been pretty much the perfect kid for a long time. With my past most people are surprised too. I am a perfect candidate for druggie and prosti-tot. ;)But nope. I'm just that girl that is usually pretty quiet that doesn't make good grades that everyone just knows for no reason. Most kids with less problems than i have are wild kids. I mean drugs, alcohol, sex and gangs. I've been in none of that... I think that we deserve each other though. I love him and he loves me... Is It right?

hi
i see both sides to the story.
but if your happy right now then theres no harm in carry on dating if you both are aware of each others feelings. if you both do change then fair enough you can lead you seperate lives but 5yrs is not a big gap when you think about it later on in life.
yeah, age is just a number :)

be careful about the thrill your getting from disobeying your mum and doing something naughty versus your true feelings for this guy.
saltwater is right, in that people change alot in the ages 16-21, and your boyfriend may also change alot from the age of 20 to 23 (no idea what the age of consent is in canada, but i wasnt ready for sex til i was 18, so i figure from there). boys are late in becoming emotionally mature, and if you are early, then fair enough you may be at the right level now.
3 years is a long time when so much is changing for both of you, particulary if the thrill of the illicit grows old.

Teenage dating is always a grey area. A 5 year age gap is completely no problem when both the people in question are, say, 20+, but in your teens it's a bit more complicated.
Specifically between the ages of 16 and 21, you grow up a lot. A lad of 21 will view a 16 girl as just that; a girl...after all, he's not a teenager any more.
Right now, you're still a young teenager, and while your mother not letting you date may seem extreme, she is after all trying to protect you. And most mothers would probably be not too impressed to find their 15 year old girl going out with a person who is effectively a fully-fledged adult.
So yes, dating him is too far.
You should wait until you get into your very late teens at the earliest before you decide to proceed down a dating route with him as your body, feelings, intuition, attitude and maturity will change drastically over the next few years.
Take care

I think that 5 years is hardly anything these days and if you're happy with him, and don't have sex until it's legal, then it's absolutely fine :)
You can't help who you fall in love with... When he's 37 and you're 32 does it really seem like that much difference? No. Age is just a number. What has it got to do with anything?
If you're happy then stay with him.
xx
