I would talk to the girlfriend as she may like you shaved. The only person who can tell you what she likes is her :)

jm81690 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionthanks for allthe tips, as far as killing bacteria with alcohol, i personally would rather tough it out with the bumps instead of the aftershave.
now that i'm getting replaies saying i probably shouldnt have shaved... do you think she will mind that it is shaved?
thanks

Yeah, you shouldn't shave just because She MIGHT like that. You shouldn't fix what ain't broken and you might have just broken what was working fine.
As for the bumps though, I was getting a lot of them when i shaved my face and ran out of aftershave lotion. Apparently bacteria can grow in the microscopic cuts and the alcohol in the aftershave helps to kill it. I'm not saying douse your pubic area with alcohol or anything, but maybe something similar and milder could be used to help.

Try sitting in the bath while you shave. Obviously do it with clear water so you can see where you are shaving. I wouldn't say do this if you haven't shaved at least a few times before. The warmth of the water will make it easier to shave.
Unfortunetly ingrowing hairs is a fall back of shaving. Why not ask your girlfriend if she prefers shaved or unshaved. You may find she prefers it hairy down there. I get ingrowing hairs on my legs after I've shaved. I pluck them out.

I agree with supersquirrl. I dont like a shaven man either. Reminds me of a deranged elephant or a child. A trim is nice, but not full shave. That is only my personal prefferance.

i agree with flower girl on the shaving cream... but how do you know your gf wouldn't like prefer you unshaven? i don't know about other girls, but i personally would find it unnatural for a guy to be shaven... plus i just love the fluff to be honest!!! if my ex had suggested shaving himself..i'd have cut off his hands to prevent it!
you say you recently got together? i'm assuming she hasn't already been down there yet.. so why not leave yourself unshaven until she has, then ask her how she'd prefer it?

It's a totally natural thing to get and i would not worry about them too much as I'm sure your girlfriend probably gets them as well.
Are you using shaving cream when you shave as i find loads of that helps reduce it.
Take care.xx,
