To that one lucky person who is getting the chance to do it- that is the greatest gift ever, why would you just waste it like nothing is beyond me and makes no sense to me

Breaking your hymen may not prevent pain during your first intercourse. Many now believe the discomfort of the first insertion comes from having the vaginal muscles stretched open to receive your partner's penis. Of course, many women experience no pain at all the first time they have sex.
A considerate partner, who knows the situation, truly cares for you, and can bring you to climax before attempting penetration is probably the best way to break your hymen. To minimize your discomfort, you can get on top of him and guide his erection into you. There is no way he can feel what you're feeling, and only you can tell when he is in exactly the right place, best angle, etc.

horse riding or gymnastics. Doesn't always work though. Alternatively find a nice young man who loves you who won't be put off that it's still in place and will make you feel loved and attractive. You are 16, it's nothing to be ashamed about just a normal process.

You can't be sure that your hymen is broken without seeing a doctor, for all you know, you've already broken it by exercising or using a tampon.
