How long does it take for breast size to increase while on the pill?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hello all, I've been on Microgynon 30 contraceptive pill for just under a week now. I am 22 and this is the first time I've been on the pill. I went on it mainly to try and calm down my bad periods. But I am hoping I may increase my breast size a little. I've got small breasts that I've been conscious of for a while now. I know that not everyone gains breast size whilst on the pill, but I was just wondering if anybody has, and if so, how long does it usually take untill you notice the increase in size? Weeks, months?...

Any feedback on this will be of help, thanks in advance :]

I've heard Yasmin is generally the most effective for breast growth, however I am aware it's also the most likely to cause the bad side effect of hair loss :s

person12345 agony auntIt's not the type of pill so much as your body and the way it reacts to the pill. Some women will experience that side effect with a particular pill and some won't. I'm sure there are pills that would cause that in you but wouldn't in me, and visa versa. You shouldn't try the pills I took simply because they caused that effect in me. It's definitely not a guarantee that they would cause it in you.

chigirl agony auntI use Microgynon and that's the only pill that I got that side effect with... Been on others and didn't experience any difference. It is too individual, some people react to one pill, another a different one.

Ah thank you :) If I don't notice any difference with the pill I'm on I may see if I can swap to one of those, cheers

Thank you all for your answers, much apreciated, and thank you GRIFF TANNEN good to hear that from a man! I have a feeling I too may be one of the people that don't gain any increase :s In general I can never put on weight anywhere no matter what I eat. May I ask Person12345 what pill you were taking when you gained breast increase?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 July 2011):

Breasts are 95% breast tissue and only 5% fat so technically going on the contraceptive pill shouldn't make any difference to your breast size.. But a few people have said their breasts have gone up in size and I'm actually not on the pill so I'd trust them :) breast size is mostly genetic though, embrace your breasts! I'm a DD-E cup and I hate it!

chigirl agony auntA few months. Mine don't change a whole cup size they just swell up, so that some tops are too small, or some of the smaller bra's I sometimes can wear will be too small. I haven't payed much attention to how long it takes before I reach "full size", as the change isn't that big with me. But around two months I think.

Then when I go off the pill, within a month they're back to normal. Then on the pill they poof up again.. Weird stuff.
