I think you've done pretty well as you've been with him for almost a year! And if your Mum knows this I'm sure she won't have a problem with it. I was only with my ex for two months when we lost it to each other and even though he's my ex I don't really regret it. This guy sounds special to you so I think you should just take a deep breath and tell her.

and well i know that he is the one that i want to spend my life with. i havent felt this way to any other guys that i have been with. thats the thing. i dont want my mom to know that i am having sex becuase she dosnt want me to end up like she did at my age. and i want her to trust me. i dont wanna go behind her back to get it too...

if you want to tell your mother go for it. say something like "well mum im 16 now and i may get in a serious relationship so i am going on birth control"
and yes btw you dont even have to tell her, just go to a local brook center or family planning clinic

You haven't mentioned a boyfriend... are you thinking of having sex with someone in particular?Don't just do it for the sake of doing it, because you may end up regretting it and it won't be as meaningful. Save it for someone special. When you find them, then you get on the birth control. You're 16 and your Mum will know that if you have a boyfriend, you'll be thinking about it. Therefore she'll be more accepting when you mention the birth control.I don't know how it works where you live but in the UK, no matter how old you are, you can go on birth control anonymously - your parents don't have to know if you don't want them to.

Hi there,It may be worth considering being upfront and honest with your Mum and tell her your considering sex. You may be quite surprised with her reaction. If you're thinking about having sex and are being mature enough and responsibile enough to take the necessary precautions, I believe you are mature enough to be honest with your Mum. Remember she was there too once and she may feel delighted that you trust her enough to share this with her. When my son told me he had masterbated for the first time while I was stirring the spaghetti bolognaise sauce, although I nearly stirred the bottom out of the pot wondering how the heck to respond, I took it as a sign of his trust for me and was able to support instead of shame him with this experience. Good luck
