My mom can't always buy me the coolest brand of shoe or a funny graphic tee (my usual attire) I want to start trying to pull my own weight. I can't find a place to start. I am only 13 and cannot get a job yet. Should I start trying to live with what I have or find a way to make some of those greenbacks? Also, is there a way to get rid of this ridiculous acne without seeing a doctor? Pretty please and thank u so much. :)

Definitely try babysitting. The Red Cross offers babysitting courses in which you can become a Red Cross certified babysitter. I did it when I was 12, and it was a pretty fun course. It was on the weekend, 8 hours each day, I believe. You do all the usual things...learn CPR, basic safety procedures, proper childcare techniques, and you look after an egg for the weekend. Great way to make money AND get good references for when you do enter the workforce.
As for the acne, I have heard that cleansing with lime juice (rubbed gently onto the face with a cotton pad, then rinsed off) helps. I actually wash my face with lime juice a few times a week, and it's very refreshing.
It's nice to see someone so young taking the initiative to be a productive member of the family. Best of luck!

Great ideas for earning some money at the age of 13, and who knows you just might like your new jobs.As far as the acne goes, yes, it is a common teenage problem due to fluctuating hormones that cause you to produce more oil.Acne is not caused by poor diet, it isn't helped by a great diet, but of course if you are taking care of yourself and keeping healthy it will build up your immune system overall.Acne is caused by a build up of sebum or oil and skin cells that get clogged at the hair follicle and cause bacteria to build up under the skin sometimes causing a pustule, as well as black heads, which mean your pores are open to the air, and white heads which mean your pores are not open. These black heads and white heads are called comedones. When you look for makeup or sunscreen or lotions that you put on your face, look at the ingredients and description for the words non-comedogenic.The two main ingredients in over the counter acne treatments are salycilic acid and benzoyl peroxide. You want to use a mild soap to wash your face with, and do not scub your skin roughly, but use your hands or a soft wash cloth, nothing harsh or you will make your acne worse.Keep oily hair products away from your face. Wash your face morning and night before you go to bed and if you wear makeup base (and why would you at 13?) remove all traces of makeup.A cleanser I really like because it is gentle but it helps control black heads and break outs is a product called Aveeno Foaming Face Wash for Oily Skin, the active ingredient is a 2% salicylic acid. Clearasil pads are inexpensive and have benzoyl peroxide which helps clean down to the pores and unclog oily blackheads and acts as an anti bacterial to help avoid more break outs. However, the best way to treat EXISTING spots, is to use a benzoyl peroxide lotion and there are a number of different ones that are pretty much all the same, so buy what ever is the least expensive and has the highest concentration of the ingredient in it.http://www.walmart.com/ip/AcneFree-Clear-Skin-Treatment/4805990?povid=cat1007039-env250615-module289998-rLink1There is an kit you can get at Walmart or Walgreen's called AcneFree Clear Skin Treatment kit, it is a good price for all three products, cleanser, benzoyl peroxide, and a lotion that helps reduce the discoloration caused by acne spots. I had good results with it...and it is nice because it gets you into a regimen for very little investment. If you find that your acne will not clear up on it's own or gets worse, you may need to go to the dermatologist to get prescription strength topical antibiotics and or oral antibiotics...

Baby sitting or dog walking is where it's at! I would have your mom put out the word at work, or make an ad. You can baby-sit on the weekends or Friday nights when a married couple needs a date night! Dog walking, you can really make it happen there when people like neighbors are going on vacation need someone to let out, feed their dog, and take them for a walk. I am too struggling with adult acne at 25! i hate it. When I was your age I made had 2 pimples and of course they came around homecoming. Listen to Plexi's reasoning..I'll recommend some brands to try..Phisoderm, Neutrogena Acne bar soap, Biore has awesome nose strips to pull out your black heads, Stridex face pads, and Clearsil acne face wash. Really that huge skin care aisle in Walgreens and Wal-mart is a trial and error to find out what works for you. Make sure you save your receipts they will refund your $ if the product didn't work. Good Luck, Peacock20 I enjoy your questions keep em coming.

Would you consider doing a paper route or babysitting until you are legally allowed to be employed?
Acne is completely normal at your age.......your hormones are going crazy!
-don't touch your face
-get plenty of exercise
-eat healthier(avoid pre packaged processed food and enjoy more whole foods, especially high fiber foods such as legumes, fruits and vegetables and dark leafy greens
- stay hydrated by drinking 6-8 glasses of water/day
-try to relax and don't think about it so much...........anxiety and stress will also negatively affect your acne condition
Hope this helps a bit hun...............xxx

Well you are not old enough to have a work permit. until i believe 15? but what you can do is maybe deliver papers or mow lawns for people maybe babysit and with baby sitting you would have to be really responsible. maybe walking dogs for people put some flyers up around different places and put on there i will walk your dogs if you don't have time it would be my pleasure those are jobs you can do that doesn't require a work permit! and as far as your acne sweetie, you are going to have to see a Dr, is there a reason why you don't want to see a doctor? if it is money there are clinics talk with your mom or dad!
Good Luck!
