I cant see a doctor because my mam would have to take me (the doctor is quite a while away). What about a chemist? Could the prescribe it there? What about a family planning clinic.. What is this and what exactly would they do?Also, (I'm not under 16, but...) if you were under 16 do you need your parents permission?Has anyone ever got funny looks when asking about the pill, or being given it? Do people look down on you in it?

Oh and I forgot to say that even if you were under 16 it is your decision to take contraception and you would not need your parents consent. They are not allowed to tell your parents (or guardians) that you have got it either.

Most family planning clinics have a teenage drop in clinic, phone them and ask when it is and go along.
You won't get any funny looks there as all the others there are for the same thing and all will be teenagers. They will also be able to talk to you about the best method of contraception for you, it may not necessarily be the pill. They prescribe it for you there and then, and they are strictly confidential so no-one will know that you have been or wht you discussed.
Their services are free, and they are all qualified nurses and doctors.

In the UK, you can get them from your GP .
Other possible sources of the Pill include Family Planning Clinics (look in the phone book) and the local authorities' Youth Advisory Clinics. Or ring the Brook Advisory Service for Young People on 08000 185 023.

i would say planned parenthood is the best way, and no i dont believe that you need to be over 16 to recieve it. People may give you looks when your going in but thats because they assume your thier for an abortion it has nothing to do with you getting birth control. The family clinics i believe work somewhat the same maybe a little different but planned parenthood will never contact your parents under any circumstances. Better to be safe than sorry i allways say!

You are a smart woman to take personal responsibility for your reproductive health and preventing unplanned pregnancies. Here in the US you can go to somewhere like Planned Parenthood and they will give you the pill prescription, either free or for a reduced rate. This is totally confidential so you don't have to worry. Not sure how it works if you are not in the US, but I am sure there is some place like that. Maybe you could ask your local pharmacist/chemist and he/she could guide you in the right direction. Also remember to still use a condom even when you are on the pill, to protect yourself from STDs. Good luck!
