I'm with Danielepew. Do your homework before you take a chance in asking him out. If it turns out he is single and the feedback is positive, from the warm handshake I'd think he would be receptive to an invitation out.

The way you have worded your post, asking him out seems somewhat premature.
If I were you, I would ask around to have more information before I made any move. If you find out you could indeed work something out with him, ask him to a movie, yes. Just ask him. He will be glad to go if he is into you.
