A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Okay. I've had a few relationships, most of them ended badly. I go for the 'bad boy' type I think. I've been cheated on a lot and it's really knocked my confidence.

Recently I met a guy who I really liked, but he got really clingy, and then I met one who i was attracted to immensely but he was really immature.

I met this guy about 4 months ago and didn't like him much, he kissed me and I couldn't stop thinking about him. Slowly we started to talk more and I started to realise I really like him, I feel differently than I have done, he's really mysterious. He doesn't tell me much about himself, but then what I do know is really interesting.

I then found out he text another girl saying something flirty, I think it was implying sex but I'm not sure. I spoke to him and the girl, and they both said it wasn't true, then he said it was a sarcastic remark, they've been friends for years and it was nothing.

He's been hurt a lot before aparently, and he's really defensive. He's "I won't change you know. I'll only let you down, I'm no good for you" but for some reason I feel it's all an act. He's got in bad with drugs and I do feel for him, he's losing his friends and I know he has been letting them down and not being a good friend, and it's like he's pushing me away. I just don't know what to do.

I like him, but does he like me enough if he's saying all this about not changing, or is he just trying not to get close to hurt himself.

Eugh I don't know what to do! please help! x

DiamondGirlx agony auntHe's telling you the truth hun he's no good for you,

guys like that never are and you'll only get hurt once again, some women or girls honestly believe that they can change a guy and turn him into someone that they like, but it never happens, if he is meddling with drugs then thats also dangerous for him and for you especially considering the side effects of some drugs.

Find some one else, Best of luck anyways :) D.Gx

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (25 November 2009):

You have no idea how many women have all thought that a guy taking drugs and saying he won't change is an 'act', and have made the huge mistake of thinking that the guy will change. Thousends. And 99% of them have all been wrong. This guy won't change at all. I know, because like all your other boyfriends who have hurt you, he is a bad boy. The problem is that you're attracted to guys who aren'y worthy of you. Ask yourself why? Maybe you're the one who doens't like to get close. I think yoou would do far better to stop seeing guys and really focus on yourself and your own happiness, because if you don't, you will join the huge group of women who have all fallen for the worst man has to offer, thinking he will chage, when he won't. Don't waste your life on losers. He told you he won't change. He won't. Get away from him, or you'll be unhappy
