He gets the erection because he's young, full of hormones, and attracted to you.
He turns away because, honestly, erections are kind of embarassing in non-sexual situations. Plus, sometimes it gets uncomfortable, depending on the pants he's wearing, and he has to adjust himself a bit.
The best you can hope to do is tell him that it's flattering, and you don't mind it when you're cuddling. He might take some time to get used to that idea, and he will still need to adjust himself for comfort. Or just ignore it.

If you're interested, comfortable, etc, let him know. He probably just doesn't want to rush things with you, which is a good thing.
