I just tried it for a month with my ex, in the hope he would have a change of heart. He dumped me then said he wanted to keep in touch and talk if I wanted to. We spoke about twice on the phone, I used to do most of the texting and it would take him at least 2 days to reply with some silly comment and the usual 'Hope ur ok'. It just made me feel worse in the end so I put it to him that he really couldn't care less about me and I got no response after that. So no, the 'just friends' thing certainly didn't work for me. It just prolonged the pain of breaking up for good.

I tried it once. I didn't work and stopped me from moving on. I had to sever contact after about 2 years as it became too painful.

Yes, once. I didn't work. It almost never does. You need to move on, or you'll just be hurt for the rest of your life.
