K so on youtube today there was a guy who was convinced that getting kicked in the balls is worse (in both pain and adverse side effects) someone getting raped..

I dunno I just thought it's be interesting to get some opinions on this

Also, how common would you say it was for a man to be kicked in the balls hard enough to become sterile and develop testicular cancer?

What if you kicked the guy who was trying to rape you in the balls, does that make it even?

I have to respond here, because there is ignorance on both sides.

There IS an argument to compare being kicked in the testicles with rape. They are BOTH sexual assault. Firstly to dispel some myths about how it is NOT a big deal to kick a guy there. This is all proven, not opinion.

1) it is easy so cause permanent injury to testicles. I have known may men who have had injuries to them. It is common to have them rupture which requires immediate medical treatment and, if the bleeding cannot be stopped, removal. It can, and has more commonly than you would think, caused death, either through a blood clot or heart attack, yes the pain is that intense.

2) There are many men who DO have lasting emotional damage from it such as, being unable to trust women. This is every bit as real and valid as a woman's emotions.

3) Not to downplay rape, but I have had some female friends who have been raped and not been overly effected by it.

I think the real issue is that women's bodies are highly valued in out society and therefor Rape is seen as awful, where as for the last 30 years Men have been held up to this overly macho Marlboro Man image and told that if they are assaulted, much less sexually, they should cowboy up and get over it.

I think THAT is what is real crap. BTW I am 33, male and believe we all need to respect each other.

It's not the pain.

It's the scar it leaves you, not physically, but mentaly. you will get over it if you get kicked in the balls but being raped, nah, now that will stay with you forever.

Collaroy agony auntany man who says this deserves a kick in the balls.

You need to start to develop your argumentative skills to put down such nonsense, just because some intellectually deficient pimple head thinks something doesnt make it so.

Yos agony auntGetting raped is much much much worse.

Getting kicked in the balls hurts like hell, but it's over in a few minutes. And I've never heard of someone getting sterile from it, you'd have to essentially break them. Cancer is impossible.

Getting raped hurts physically, but the mental pain is infinitely worse. Rape is frequently a life changing experience that can badly effect someones entire life, sometimes for the rest of their life. I have friends who were raped that have ended up almost completely unable to have normal relationships because of it.

There is no comparison.

A female reader, PsyCookie United States +, writes (19 August 2008):

PsyCookie agony auntWhy are you listening to kids from youtube? It's just as bad as myspace, just full of kids that want too much attention than needed.

This kid is obviously forgetting the extensive mental and emotional damage that rape causes on it's victims. I've never heard of someone committing suicide for getting kicked in the balls, but it's not the same thing for rape victims.

My guess is that he was just making an expression, yet nonetheless extremely stupid, unfunny, and ignorant.

I think it's more likely for a man to become sterile by getting kicked in the balls (but i think it's more likely to be struck by lightening twice than this). Getting testicular cancer from getting kicked in the balls? That's just the same as blaming the dog for the farts.
