Hello all, i posted a question just yesterday and please understand that i dont mean to be a pain, only i am so desperate to find my birth father and i have only received one answer.. as im so impatient i wanted to post it again just in case no one else saw the question. i have awaited the chance to be able to find him for 18 years, and now my mum thinks i am old enough to deal with it, she has finally told me his full name but it is so frustrating that i dont know what to do with it. Please please please if you have any websites that are FREE in locating a lost family member or just any person; i cant afford to pay websites and there must be ones that dont charge, i just cant find them... or criminal records websites for free if this is possible (my birth dad has a long history of violence and prison sentences..) although i know that information like that is usually confidential. Alternatively, any phone numbers of companies that might be able to help me would be great. literally anything, please. i would really like to find him. thank you.

Hi there.

Try this site.

http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

Find out where your nearest office is using the postcode finder, and make an appointment to see them. They offer totally FREE advice on just about anything, and may be able to help you with this. Plus it would probably help to see someone in person so you can write stuff down and such. They won't directly be able to find your father, but will be able to suggest ways of doing it.

As you want free options, that limits what you can do.

Here, you could try www.192.com or www.thephonebook.bt.com to see if he has a listed phone number. I found my own home e-mail address on www.123people.com

You could advertise on "Friends Reunited" which is free to the user (it is paid for by sponsors).

The Salvation Army will do searches for lost family members, but I'm afraid that it isn't free - there is a small charge which goes towards the upkeep of the service.

But the Salvation Army's Family Tracing service is famous for tracing people and re-uniting them.

The following are sites that will give you advice on how to find someone:

http://websearch.about.com/od/peoplesearch/tp/find-someone.01.htm

http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelprestype/offpubs/electreg/traceliv/tracinglivingpeople.pdf

Another site you could try:

http://www.angelica.dds.nl/publicrecordsuk.php

For now, this is all I can come up with so far. If I find more things, I will put them up. The best of luck finding your father! And let me know if any of this has been helpful in any way.
