A male reader, Illithid United States +, writes (22 December 2010):

Illithid agony auntI've always believed in attraction at first sight and actual love coming later, but a friend was proposed to after a first date, and now they've been married 20 years! So while it hasn't happened to me, it seems that it can happen.

A male reader, Odds United States +, writes (22 December 2010):

Odds agony auntDepends on how shallow your definition of "love" is. To me, love requires a lot of knowledge about, and experience with, the person in question. It transcends the short skirt that initially drew my attention and becomes recognition of a good soul. It requires a knowledge of the self that only really comes with conviction. There are millions of women I could love, but not one I would love without a long time to develop that feeling.

Of course, some guys see a pretty girl and would immediately be willing to jump in front of a bus for her. I wouldn't call that love, but if you would, great.

So, no, love at first sight does not exist, but the potnetial is there if the attraction is strong enough.

Im gonna go with 'attraction' at first sight. And then maybe it progresses into something else . . . something like that happened to me. I was struck with his looks and now I think I'm really in love with him.

Good luck =]

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (21 December 2010):

chigirl agony auntIt happens. Or can happen I guess, attraction that is based on mental attraction above physical attraction can easily be linked to the feeling of love, and attraction is a part of the "love" feeling as well, so in a sense those two things can be the same.

But yeah, sometimes we meet people and we just know that we love them and always will. Sometimes we were mistaken.. some times not. It's not possible to explain. So I will go for a simple: yes, love at first sight is possible.

Of course this is like believing in ghosts, few believe who hasn't experienced it themselves.

lucy.whittaker agony auntI believe in it, even if it is a little naïve. Sometimes you can just sense that someone is special. Obviously you have to get to know them to find out if that first instinct is right, but I believe that if you both feel that instant connection then you're onto a winner :)

A male reader, dirtball United States +, writes (21 December 2010):

dirtball agony auntI think it does, kind of. Attraction at first sight would probably be more accurate though, because I feel you have to know a person to love them. It's impossible to know someone from just sight alone. Still, some connections happen right away, that's undeniable.
