I don't wish I was a child, I hated being a child and couldn't wait to grow up so I could decide over myself and not be told what to do and yelled at for no reason other than grown ups thinking they were smarter, then being too physically weak to defend yourself from angry people, and not knowing the words (smaller vocabulary) to speak back and express yourself. It was like being trapped, and I hated it. I don't think there was anything great about being a child, except I got to celebrate Christmas in the old fashioned style every other year (my father didn't even put up a Christmas tree when we were with him, nor wrap the gifts).
But hey, maybe your childhood was a happy and trouble free one where you got everything you pointed at? I don't know, why do you wish you were a child again? What good was it to you? Maybe what you really want isn't to be a child, but to be taken care of and protected. But you can still seek that as an adult, that's normal to want. I want that too, I love the idea of having someone to rely on when things get though and having someone to back you up and bring you chocolates and hugs when you are sick. But you don't need to be a child to get that.

To see through childrens eyes and to want, desire something so honest, loving- I think that is what we as adults mourn over sometimes.
But we gain wisdom with years. To experience heartache is to better appreaciate joyful times. One cannot exsist without the other.
Its a life process that I embrace.
You don't need counselling for having a dream. ;)

I had a great childhood - I would love to go back. No worries, no cares, just fun and lots loved ones around.

Unless you're going to extremes -- spending too much time wishing for something that can't happen so that you're not getting important things done in your life -- then no, you don't need counselling. It can be comforting to remember a time when there was someone there to kiss it better and take away your problems. That's a perfectly reasonable thing to do from time to time.

I have heard people with your same wish, as for me, heck no. Never. What's so great in being a child anyway ? You may be free from responsibilities, but you are also totally powerless. You get ordered around , other people choses what you are going to eat , what you are going to wear , at what time you are going to bed....No thanks !

Secretly, I sometimes wish that too. It was so easy being a child, not having a care in the world. You didn't have to worry about bills, marriage, wrinkles, gray hairs, getting a career, having a family, etc. Being an adult especially in these trying times can be quite stressful.
I wouldn't say you need counseling, at your age it seems like you're experiencing the toughness of the real world. So at this stage, those thoughts are normal.
Are you experiencing any hardships? Life weighing down on you?
I'm sure a lot of people in their 20s wish they could turn back that clock, but we can't be children forever.

It is very normal I wish that I was young and didn't have responsibilities so you are perfectly normal
