I've never tried it and refused to do it so many times I threateded divorce so I wouldn't be asked again. Some message boards have supposed "women" who claim to like it but in the annynomous world of the internet, I don't believe that any of them, or the great majority of them are men acting as women or dykes.

Personally I have found that most girls do not like it and won't do it. Of the rest left, most do it more to please the man. I've met a couple of girls that do seem to like it and have instigated it. Biggest turn on about anal is that it is still a bit "taboo" but in reality when you can have sex anal as much as vaginal it isn't really that appealing. If you are with a girl and want to experiment it is best to do it whilst she is really turned on and you are already having sex she is thinking less logically more emotionally at this point.

When my partner inserts a finger or two, I end up bleeding in my bm for a few days, big indicator that it's damaging me, not pleasuring me. I no longer allow that.
And after watching a short anal porn....good lord... I was so grossed out by how stretched out that girls a-hole was from the very large vibrator that was inserted and the men's penis so easily went in... what is scary too is, what they don't show you....you see them going from vagina to ass back to vagina repeatedly and it seems to go on forever...seriously, how could that girl not have infections and diseases or the guy put his penis in there with no condom. Whatever. People will do their own thing, some women like it I guess, but there are so many things to keep mine and my partner's sex life interesting, anal sex is not going to be one of them. JMHO :-)
I would love to know how many guys who want this, have had the experience themselves and would be willing to give it a go, if they want their women to do it too. Somehow, I suspect, they would be a bit leary of this proposal.

 Friend of a friend preferred anal to vaginal, said she enjoyed it more. But she was one of those girls that figured she was still a virgin as long as she only got it from behind and even when she started having vaginal sex, she was terrified of becoming pregnant, so I don't know how much was physical pleasure vs how much was just psychologically easier.

It's not all that stimulating either since it's father away from all the nerve endings on her sex organs.I have tried it to please a partner, but it was just too painful and afterwards I never tried again.
However, light anal can feel really nice WITH sex; a finger or pressure. If you are curious, maybe just start there and see how she feels.

Some women do it because they feel pressured into it or don't want to disappoint the guy.
Lets just say, if the girl isn't 110% into it she doesn't want to do it and is doing it for other reasons.
